Yes. But that design was only used early on. 1981-82 models. I bet your truck's tailgate had been swapped at some point in life with an early model....
Actually, the 1989-91 Blazer, Jimmy, Suburban, and crewcab trucks had a solid aluminum wheel well opening molding without a ridge in the middle. :waytogo:

Sounds like a bent or binding metal rod in the locking system??
Like in the old days people "slim jimmed" their trucks when the keys were locked inside. Maybe someone hung the tool up on a lock rod and bent it???
Left and right end speaker plugs have an angled connector though.
I can't tell in your photo if that hardshell connector is straight or bent at an angle.
1981/82 never had that set-up. The parking lights were always built down in the front bumper.
1981 had a single headlamp bezel with a matching grill pattern under the headlamp. 1982 had that same bezel AND a quad headlamp option on the Silverado style V22 trim.

Those tailgates all had the small, square block "ESC" badge in 1981. Or that massive "Electronic Spark Control" 2-tone badge with those two big 1/4" pins going thru...
