GREAT Story!!!!! What fun that must have been. :laughing1:

    Battery kill switch

No harm done, I know it is overkill and people are probably laughing. Didn't cost much out of pocket (versus a Viper that cost over $300+). I haven't resided in a suburb since 1998. I do live in a rural area with a long driveway in the middle of woods. And I have 2 rotti's as alarms. There...

    Battery kill switch

Oh, it is safe here, just a matter of peace of mind. All that cost me about $60 out of pocket - not a big chunk of change. I have put too much time, energy and money into this to have some 2-bit dumbass decide to lift it. All deterrents of course because if the professional wants it, nothing...

    Battery kill switch

I DID IT!!!! I installed my kill switch!!! :happy107: I also ordered a motion/vibration 113 dB alarm to arm when I leave the truck. less than $20 and Fing loud!!!! Is a bike alarm but can be used for cars. Also ordered a tracker that works on cellular and GPS. Again battery...

    Battery kill switch

Okay, I need some confidence here. To wire in the kill switch, based on the diagram attached, it is the purple wire I want to cut and splice the switch into. Right????????????

    Battery kill switch

Hey Grit dog, Although I live in a rural area off a main highway, we have had cars stolen in the area as well as catalytic converters sawed off feet away from the owners homes as well as a half dozen taken from my mechanics lot, including a couple of their own vehicles, and they have security...

    Battery kill switch

So, my question is, what is the difference in tapping the solonoid wire versus the IGN wire? Isn't the end result the same - the vehicle cannot be started? Is the IGN wire easier to get to on the column? Just something rolling around in my head.

    Battery kill switch

Hey Grit dog, I think the under the seat trick is a well known place for a switch. It is bad we have to get more crafty about hiding these switches. I would love to have something that can be removed like is rigged up in this video. y Or there is this. Someone else suggested this to me. Is...

    Battery kill switch

Okay, Putting on the purple is for safety reasons - hence the neutral safety switch which probably isn't a good thing to mess with. So, weather permitting, I am going to suck it up and do this tomorrow. :emotions34: Just have to make sure I have appropriate size butt connectors that heat...

    Battery kill switch

So will the 14 G wire work? I couldn't find anything that tells me the gauge of the purple wire. Should I use the solenoid or the ignition? I know the ignition is a purple wire. I think the solenoid is black? Have to look at wiring diagram again.

    Battery kill switch

Maybe I understood him wrong. I do better with pictures instead of standing in a store feeling stupid and confused. Don't get me wrong, he was really nice. I just do not have the confidence of mucking around with something as important as starters and solinoids. I have attached a pic of the...

    Battery kill switch

I have chose toggle. I went to O'Reilly's and bought (at the suggestion of the sales person) a 35 amp toggle and wire. He explained how to do this - cut purple wire, add red wire, run red wire where I want it, connect to toggle terminal, connect another length of red wire to same terminal...

    Battery kill switch

Okay, how does everyone feel about this? https://killswitchcentral.com/ Also, I have this connector just hanging out that is plugged into the "IGN" slot on the fuse block. Can that connector be used or is the wiring too light? Probably not the optimal spot though. :(

    Battery kill switch

Thanks, but will need some installation instructions. Unfortunately anyone with a coat hanger, or a slim-jim, can get into these trucks. I have an inside hood release, so wouldn't anything connected to the battery be fair game to disconnect to by pass? Of course, after saying that, that takes...

True. I just am not confident enough to venture into that territory. :(

    Battery kill switch

I have decided on a toggle switch. Now to find someone to tap the appropriate wires and I can install and mount the switch. No sense having them install the switch and know where I put it. I am perfectly comfortable connecting 2 wires to a toggle switch, it is the other end I get worried...

    Battery kill switch

You are correct, thanks, I have concluded that in my mind. Simple is better, and yeah, not sure why there are people that want to change what is already perfect. I might understand a track truck, but not a daily driver. My better half always talks about adding headers and a blower and doing...

    Battery kill switch

Okay, how does everyone feel about a wireless battery kill switch. I have searched for articles about "the best" and there are a couple. My only concern is battery drain. But then if you let these new computerized vehicles sit for more than a week, you get met with a dead battery. My elderly...

    "Chrome" powder coating

Has anyone used the Eastwood HOTCOAT POWDER COAT EXTREME CHROME BONDED POWDER and is it a reflective and chrome looking as it shows in the video? I want to "chrome" powder coat my front bumper as it is looking bad. Since it is original, and better made than what I can buy now, I want to keep...

    Mystery wire

So, MAYBE, I have solved the problem. Not sure yet. Per the attached wiring diagram that I found, this could have something to do with my cruise control. Until I get the cab back together and seats and seatbelts in place I cannot test this theory. If it is for my cruise control, GREAT...

Thanks everyone. I will definately keep my eyes peeled. Looking daily on Market place and craigslist. Maybe I will get luck. ;)

I used the "O" ring trick and it worked like a charm.

    Mystery wire

Thanks grit dog. i have disconnected the blue completely. i will take your advice and disconnect the orange and wrap electrical tape around it. I will do the same for the mysterious double pink wires that are currently unplugged from the block and have not affected anything.

    Air Filter parts

Hmmmmm, not sure what is going on. I will have to wait until I get the air filter house top back and try again.
