    Correct bumper for '78

That is what I thought Before ordering, I had a lengthy chat conversation assuring me that it was the correct bumper versus what they had a picture of on their website. That was my first clue that something was wrong. My second clue was when it arrived. Printed on the outside of the box was...

    Correct bumper for '78

I am replacing the current step bumper on my '78 fleetside with a period correct bumper that my truck originally came with. It has been called a "sport" bumper, like a blazer had on it. I am so confused. When I look up rear bumpers from suppliers, I find two different styles of rear bumpers...

    Flexing door handle area

Okay. I fixed it. From what I can figure out, the "reinforcing place" is not flat against the outer skin thus causing some flexing. Using a large fender washer did not help. So...........I took a 4" mending plate and pushed it long ways up under the lower lip of the plate and voila!!!! No...

    Flexing door handle area

I will have to try something. Maybe a short, thin bar behind the bolt.

    Flexing door handle area

Well, as long as my handle doesnt pull off in my hand, I'm good. Just have to put more "pull" on latch end. We call know what happens when you bend metal too much in one spot!!! ;)

    Flexing door handle area

If you ever have your interior door panels off look for it at the back of where the exterior door handle attaches. You can also use a flashlight and look down the window channel with the window rolled down.

    Flexing door handle area

Fortunately, this is an original door. I have seen the support inside the door. I am going to check it and make sure it is solid. Thanks though.

    Flexing door handle area

Thanks, yes, I have seen that. Didn't mess with it, but will check it. I do not recall seeing one on passenger side.

    Flexing door handle area

Hello all. I have noticed that the metal on the door at the door handle small end (opposite of the push button) flexes a little. It doesn't happen on the passenger side. I will attribute this to the fact that due to that door being used more (as in by me! ;D) and the pulling on it over 43...

    Installation of LED side markers

I was given some very good information from either a forum member here or another forum. DO NOT cut your existing wiring. Buy these so you have a way to disconnect if necessary. I used these and everything is working great!!! When you order you get 2 (not 5 like it shows)- exactly what is...

    LED Side Markers from CARID

Technically, at least here in Virginia, if it blinks with headlights off, it needs to blink with headlights on. But since posting my dilemma, the situation has been corrected. WHY I didn't think about this earlier..........I removed the headlights (which of course required me to dismantle the...

    1978 C10 front marker lights

Okay, so WHY I didn't think about this earlier..........I removed the headlights (which of course required me to dismantle the bezel and trim ring) and swapped them. I installed the driver's headlight on the passenger side, and vice-versa, and GUESS WHAT!!!! They worked perfectly and are...

    1978 C10 front marker lights

Well, all is not happy.......I spoke too soon. Back to old problem. BUT!!!! here is a new quirk. I plugged in the marker to the passenger side, hit the lights and it all works as it should. W.....T......F........ I am so over this. Contacted company I bought headlights from. They are...

    1978 C10 front marker lights

Okay PrairieDrifter - I received my pigtails today. Went out, stripped both sets of wires back about 1/2 inch, wirenut them together and grounded the light on a screw connector. Turned on ignition (did not start truck). Lights off, both the directional under headlights and turn signal...

    LED Side Markers from CARID

They have the chrome trim. Actually did not see a no chrome trim model that was LED. The ones without the silver trim are just the replacement lense - no LED built in. My truck is a Silverado and has the chrome trim around the tail lights so thought it would look nice to have the chrome...

    1978 C10 front marker lights

Hey, not a problem. Just my luck that they do not have the plug.......even though I looked again and I saw a plug. I also looked at another sight, had the same lights, and they also showed a plug. But I am sure if I ordered them, they would be the same. So, where can I find a connector, or...

    1978 C10 front marker lights

Hey PrairieDrifter - Received my LMC order today with my markers. GUESS WHAT!!!!!! They are EXACTLY like the ones I just returned to carID!!!! WTF!!!! Apparently Union Pacific is the only company that makes these. Again, no instructions. So, I am going to cut my socket, connect black to...

Thanks Criag85 - Just seems backwards to me. "Vent" to me is venting outside air in. I will assume that I still have the cowl flap. I know I have the pod - will have to check. But it is what it is and all is working correctly.........Thank!!!! Goodness!!!!

    Ugh!!!!!! Clear Coat Issues

Thanks for the tips. Once we get over the hump of this humidity I will shoot the clear coat. I have used a rust convertor, rust encapsulator and then applied a "Heavy Duty Anti-Rust" that cures with a waxy film (All Eastwood products). So at least I have the backside sealed. The filler I...

    Outside door handle rod

Great job Mark80K10!!! I just got done replacing my exterior doors handles also. What a frustrating PIA. Narrow, cramped, dark working environment. Went out and bought a long, skinny, flashlight with magnet from Harbor Freight. Made things better in the light area. I would recommend this...
