Brand new clutch fork moves up and down

So after having my throw out bearing changed to a longer one and a new clutch fork installed, the place told me that because of the ls swap my engine sits too high and that’s the reason for the 45° angle on the adjustment rod. I get home (finally after having to replace the ujoints in the...

    Clutch issues

After a couple hours to calm down and further investigation I noticed the new clutch fork moves just like the old one. And the spring from the motor mount to the fork is pulling is downward. I took the spring off and I can push the fork upwards and it levels out but I don’t think the spring I...

    Clutch issues

With the longer throw out bearing and new fork the pedal is so hard to press and today after installing new ujoint for the rear driveshaft the truck is moving with the clutch down again. What gives. After these new parts my adjustment rod to clutch fork angle is terrible. About ready to give up...

    ISO speedo driven gear NP205

I’ve been using a gps speedometer on my phone since the swap but I need it working for the vss also, but it’s still nice to have the odometer. With the truck being a manual I can usually tell how fast I’m going

    ISO speedo driven gear NP205

After searching for over a year and jb welding it twice I’m here hoping someone has a spare np205 that’s shot or something. I need the speedometer driven gear for the speedo cable from an np205. I believe it is stamped K but I’ll have to double check. I cannot find this part anywhere and my...

    Clutch issues

Picked the truck up yesterday after having the clutch fork and throw out bearing swapped. Drive home was decent, hate where the pedal grabs, way too high for my preference. Hit 55mph got a severe shake pull over and my driveshaft fell out. Now I’m replacing ujoints and straps and hoping I didn’t...

    Adding AC after ls swap

I’ve debated on that but $2500 for ac isn’t justifiable yet, and with having no knowledge of how any of it works or anything I can’t figure out what all I need. I looked at vintage air and they’ve got every price from 2500 down to 100 for different options included or without. I need literally...

    Adding AC after ls swap

Assuming sanden is a brand, which model would I need? I’ve never worked with ac so I don’t know a whole lot. Depending how it goes I may add it to my 78 later on for more comfort. I do plan on making this blazer a daily driveable vehicle so comfort and reliability are the only requirements...

    Adding AC after ls swap

1983 K5 Blazer, originally a 6.2/700r4/208, currently a 350/400/208, soon to be 5.3/4L60E/208. The ac was removed before I got it and I know literally nothing about air conditioning other than my ole lady has got to have it. I know I’m going to need a condenser, evaporator, and the canister...

    Clutch issues

Decided to just get on eBay and get one that cross referenced the same part number as a national 1697-C. Suppose I either need to fix the hydraulic clutch in the other truck or hope I can change all this in an afternoon one day.

    Clutch issues

@DoubleDingo taking the part numbers from Napa and looking at skf shows one is 0.68xxx” long and the other is also 0.68xxx” long fork to face. I don’t suppose either one is what I need.

    Clutch issues

Butchered those numbers severely, but oreillys only has one size in three different brands and it’s .66” from fork to bearing face. Suppose I’ll have to order one from somewhere.

    Clutch issues

I’ve got the factory one for a 1978 12” clutch. It isn’t long enough I think it was 7/8” from mating surface to fork and longer one was ~1.3” or something? I’ll look at what oreillys has since I don’t have a Napa local.

    Clutch issues

So I should be able to get the one that’s a half inch longer?(if I read correctly) I got all my new parts in today just need to pick up a throw out bearing. I suppose I’ll have to pick a day to drop the trans.

    LS swap transmission choice

I think I’ve decided on a 4l60e, I don’t care about cruise I’ve never had it so don’t see why I should make it a priority now. I think I’m going to go with the advanced adapter piece but I need to find a tailhousing off a 700r4. I want the vss to be reliable so I don’t really want to run an...

    Clutch issues

Ordered everything lmc had to offer to rebuild the clutch linkage. It will all be delivered today, I still don’t know what throw out bearing I need. All I can find is a national 1697C, which is like a unicorn and can’t be obtained anywhere I’ve looked. Anyone with more experience got a part...

    LS swap transmission choice

Previous owner swapped in the th400, which has a 32? Spline? I asked him the other day if he still had the 700r4 and original tcase so I gotta go get that for another $200, no biggie. I’ve done a manual swap, but I’d rather have an automatic for the “goin to town” rig, I need something the ole...

    LS swap transmission choice

I’ve started the tear down on a 99 Sierra with a 5.3 and I assume 4l60e. I’ve got the harness and ecu out and taking it to Murray to be flashed this morning. I’ve done the ls swap in my k10, but I used a manual trans. This blazer was originally a 6.2/700r4/208, it now has a 350/400/208. I want...

    Clutch issues

@rusted nuts is the rod 5/16? Or 1/4”? I’ve got some all thread of those sizes but that’s it on hand. I’ll probably live with it for the time being until I can park the truck for a week or so. $70 for everything lmc has in stock. Everything but the fork pivot ball and the pedal hardware. What is...

    Clutch issues

Actually had a buddy weld the highest joint(rotated pipe to clear the o2 sensor with the clutch linkage) and then a local exhaust shop did the next one. My clutch has never been correct in this truck. I got it with a squealing throw out bearing and no pilot bearing if you recall, I swapped in...

    Clutch issues

Mine has the massive spring under the dash, if I disconnect the adjustment rod and the return spring on the fork the clutch pedal will shoot to the floor and stay with the slightest tough. I slightly adjusted the rod and went down the property and I hate the way it feels it grabs about half up...

    Clutch issues

My pedal never returned higher than the brake pedal, I didn’t know the mechanical pedal traveled that far until I reach down and pulled it up. I’d say this second photo might be a little bit of an issue

    Clutch issues

I’ve read about a procedure of “with pedal at resting position adjust rod to go into the upper hole”? Or something. With my pedal at resting position the adjustment puts the pin completely past the zbar. I figure one weekend I get a three day weekend or something I need to completely replace all...

    Clutch issues

Mine has visible wear. I can’t change the throw out bearing just whenever, the truck is my work truck and I daily drive it close to 40 miles a day. It may all be in my head and thinking I’m gonna kill a brand new clutch in 5000 miles or something may actually be wrong. The pedal works it just...

78 k10 with a 5.3l ls and sm465, sachs1050 flywheel stock 12” 1978 k10 clutch. My clutch pedal stays closer to the floor than I’d like plus if I try to shift gears quickly you can feel it grind for a split second before going into the next gear. My adjustment rod is maxed out at the end of its...
