    Alternator not charging at idle

So I’ve had this 1976 Chevrolet K10 for around 8 months now and it has never seen pavement the whole time I’ve owned it. I still need to do some tuning on the quadrajet to get it running ideal, but it’s got an electrical issue. The voltage gauge shows 12 at idle and only goes down from there...

5.3L LS checklist with part numbers

I got a low fan working atleast with a green wire labeled fan 1, used it as ground for the relay and it did finally come on. I finally wired in my check engine light and it came on after a few minutes with two codes, knick sensor 2 circuit low voltage and po301. Great. I’m still waiting to get...

5.3L LS checklist with part numbers

Made more progress got the truck running and let the thermostat open, I have to redo the relay wiring for electric fans because guy that did the harness swore up and down that the green wire is the signal wire not the ground, well they never came on. Clutch adjusted and truck moves under its own...

5.3L LS checklist with part numbers

The cable is great moves easy returns fine the return to idle is just slow, so if it’s tuning related I’ll deal with it for time being. I’ve also got an occasional slight idle surge. My tachometer doesn’t read right it shows 200 at idle and I have one code store, po650. I haven’t got the check...

5.3L LS checklist with part numbers

Got the engine running coolant in it, still need to adjust the clutch, but I feel like there’s an issue with my idle, it doesn’t return to idle very fast. My tachometer doesn’t read right but I revved it for a video and it kinda held at that rpm until I bumped the throttle again. I have an...

Sometimes it would shake in neutral at idle and I could press the clutch and it smoothed out

5.3L LS checklist with part numbers

Got power steering done today and a throttle cable. Going to try and get the downpipes done up tomorrow so I can run the truck a little longer. I’m thinking about getting a stock 99-02 lower rad hose when I go get new plug wires(broke one taking off the manifolds)

5.3L LS checklist with part numbers

Got the electric fans wired up today for the most part didn’t have much daylight after work. I’m still trying to figure out how to make these power steering lines and I don’t know how to get the plug out of the passenger side head I can’t see it to see what I need to remove it

@SquareRoot these werent the average trailer park drunks, these were the people I had to knock on the door and wait a half hour for them to wake up after thinking I was the cops trying to “get em” no hard feelings I gave 1500 for the jalopy non running, dude brought the carb outside to me, and...

5.3L LS checklist with part numbers

Just an update Got the fuel system done and everything worked there except my fuel filter leaks, gotta figure that out. Cranked the truck and it fired right up. Blowing power steering fluid of course. I’m not positive how I want to go about doing power steering lines, any input?

I’m just running the an hose shoved onto the sending unit with high pressure hose clamps to a filter along the frame rail to gm quick connects at the fuel rail

5.3L LS checklist with part numbers

I’ve got 30’ of an line, I planned on running the line from tank to intake since I’m going from passenger side tank to drivers side, plus the fuel rail is on drivers side as well

5.3L LS checklist with part numbers

I bought an line with the hard center on accident I didn’t have intentions of it I’m new to the ab line stuff. I just know it’s harder to make all the fittings go on, and I’ve got several fittings to do…

    Shudder while taking off

Well the people I got it from were some drunks in a trailer park… loads of questionable things. Not sure who did the clutch but it didn’t appear super worn but the flywheel and pressure plate had a lot of color. I’ve got the 5.3l in there now with brand new flywheel clutch pressure plate throw...

Got the bell housing bolted up today finally and the engine cranks. Tomorrow I’m onto a fuel system. Won’t be fun since I used the lined an lines I should’ve just used fuel injection hose lol

    Shudder while taking off

Considering who I got the truck from nothing surprised me at this point. The bell housing bolts weren’t tight by any means I removed three by hand. The throw out bearing was also very past due

    Shudder while taking off

Since I know someone out there is curious, After having issues fitting a 12” clutch in my ls swap I decided to crack this clutch apart to find it’s an 11” clutch. Also there’s no pilot bushing in the crank. The pressure plate has some serious ripples on it and quite a bit of color towards the...

That link is for plug wires, maybe the original plug wires link was the mounts I dunno I’ll figure it out, I used the 1050 flywheel but I used a factory replacement clutch due to using a factory trans

5.3L LS checklist with part numbers

Yes the clutch should be clearing I can turn the crank with no clunking or binding. The first two links you sent seem to be the same lol, the manifolds clear but the down pipe afyer the 02 sensor goes straight into the frame. No wires are back there I’ve yanked plenty of wiring out of...

5.3L LS checklist with part numbers

Motor mount adapters are the aluminum ones and the clamshell is at the exact same spot as it was on the 350. 13-3/8” from the bellhousing. Both clamshells are in the farthest forward spot. I got both motor mount bolts in drivers side wqs easier than passenger side, I got caught up on the fins...

5.3L LS checklist with part numbers

We’ll day four into the swap and I’ve got the engine in, that’s about it. It’s going absolutely terrible. I had to remove the exhaust manifolds to get the rear of the engine to drop between the frame rails then I finally got the passenger side clam shell to drop onto the motor mount but I had to...

I’m going to go through and edit the first post here in a couple days since I’ve had to order some extras and I didn’t include them in the original post, I went and got the engine yesterday and heard it run. I put my fuel tank together this morning aiming to complete the swap as soon as I get...

    Holley issues

Stock fuel pump, I stopped the fuel supply by using needle nose hose grips with electrical tape wrapped several times around the end, then let the truck stall. The primaries were pretty empty with a little seeping around the bottom screws, I didn’t take the secondary bowl off I don’t know how to...

    Holley issues

I was told to clean and rebuild it then tune it. I can’t tune it when the rebuild made it worse to the point it won’t run.
