    Transfer case support rod

Well I have to wonder... I would like to see what breaks without it. It can't do much at all to mitigate twisting forces, at least not the way I see it.

    Down on power, sounded different.

Broken spring, pin or seized weight in the dizzy.

    Gov loc differential???

My AWD Astro van had one. It worked good for getting out of my snowed in back alley, turning out of my carport and going up a slight hill. I could hear and feel it kicking in. How many times can that thing go 'thump' before it changes it tone to 'snap'?

    Worth the risk?

Ask to pull the valve covers. If the seller says 'no' you have your answer. Once the covers are off you will see if the heads are in fact legit but mostly to turn the engine over and see if all the valves are opening and closing. Has all the oil been drained out of it? If so, perfect... pull the...

Has anybody removed ethanol from their gas ?

Because when I have a tank of straight gas and another of premix... guess what happens. All I have really that uses straight gas is my plate compactor. Actually I find 4 stroke engines really like a little oil. Remember I'm talking 50/1. I hit garage sales and people who are moving... help...

Has anybody removed ethanol from their gas ?

I use my 50/1 saw oil in everything gas. I use old school Belray. I don't know if this negates the ethanal damage, but my equipment loves it.

    '87 V1500 2" Lift Advice

The ONLY place for those Tuff HD springs is the K30 Crew Cab with a big block. What most people don't realize is that we can to a certain extent 'tune' leaf springs. Depending on the spring set and where the clamps are, you can zip disc off an inch at a time, from and rear of the bottom...

    '87 V1500 2" Lift Advice

Good point but why not consider using a receiver up front (and in back) and keep the winch in your box, right up nice and snug behind the cab. Use that amazing nylon winch rope which will save weight and your back when you need to mount that winch up. Having the option to put the winch in the...

Swapping from 14B semi-float to 14B full float

Regarding Gov Lock.... My perspective is within 4x4 off road technical crawling. Never... stay away from it. In your case... maybe it's totally fine. I always found them to be more of a winter back alley escape tool and that's about it.

Headers for economy on 82 K10?

You can scrap the box and build a simple lightweight flat deck. Use cedar for the deck boards, they will resist rot and weigh almost nothing. The weight savings will help significantly.

Headers for economy on 82 K10?

True dual exhaust over a two into one will gain a little on a stock engine.

Headers for economy on 82 K10?

Creating a little extra power and then NOT using it is like "I did not inhale" or "no I won't come inside you".

    Window seals, new, tight fit.

I would lean towards a polymere like ArmorAll. Maybe the regulator needs a cleaning and lube job. Even the bearings or more likely the bushing in the motor is dry and causing the drag. Corroded electrical connections will also pull the motor down. Maybe a little of everything?

Anyone have Bilstein shocks on their stock 4x4? Shock brand questions.

No, they were soft, very weak dampening, just like blown shocks. The truck had the off road package with locking rear diff and these useless shocks, which they claimed were better for handling and traction. Well that was NOT case. Maybe 1st gear low range crawling. I felt the truck was dangerous...

Anyone have Bilstein shocks on their stock 4x4? Shock brand questions.

My 98 Tacoma had Bilsteins from the factory. Way too soft! Like the goggles, they did nothing.

    Headers on 350 with SM465 2WD

Hi Justin welcome and thanks for joining. You absolutely want long tube... short tube only helps high rpm. But... are these truck headers? They have to fit the vehicle, not just the engine. You might have to physically try to get them into place to see if they work. But that means you would...

    My Starting Over/Midlife Crisis '83? C/K 20/30 Death Trap

Thanks for joining Steve. Too bad you didn't enter the party before you bought this truck, we never would have let you spend that much. Anyway, now you have it and you will find lots of help here going through it and setting things right. Are you interested in off roading this truck for real...

    Pitman Arm Question

Welcome Moose! That would be a good question to run past ORD. I would think it depends what you want to do with the truck. Those 2" lift springs can give you great articulation if you run long shocks and a high mount Ford shock tower (or make your own).... and disconnect the anti-swaybar...
