    Ticking sound from distributor...?

Much stronger all around, but you must upgrade to D70 stub shafts. Stock 60 stubs neck down to the same size as a D44. Muito important if you want a locker up front. Nice work Taylor on the dizzy advice :waytogo:

Harmonic Balancer - super weird (at least to me)

Sometimes the rubber dries up and becomes really messy black powder. Other times they shrink.. or they just 'pack down'. Countless problems arise over shot rubbers (including unwanted children but that's another story)... and often it's the last thing we look at.

    Which welder?

I wonder of the flux core crushes easier? I know if rollers are too tight these problems can arise. Especially on cheapo little 110 wire feeds. You mentioned keeping the stinger line straight, this is important and certainly adds to the life of the liner.

    Header Opinions and Advice

Shorties don't need to be 'clearanced' like long tubes. And most likely will not need the starter wires moved back out of the way. Still should clearance the tubes around the bolt holes to be sure your box end wrench gets in there.

    Header Opinions and Advice

Not exactly... the shorties don't have the scavenging effect long tubes have. Shorties start making a difference above 5000 rippems. Comparing shorties to a cast manifold, well they are certainly easier to install or REMOVE... and they look nice!

700R4 went out while towing. Culprit?

You nailed it BossRod. Once the oil starts bubbling out the dipstick the damage is done. Even a temp gauge... once it shows HOT!!! it's too late. If you watch it closely, and see it beginninging rise then it's time to shut it down.

    Sheared bolts

Literally a 5 minute job once the welder is set up. I wouldn't even bother with a nut.. just use 60/10 and build up a knob with enough meat to grab it with a small needle nose VISE-GRIP.

Anyone know trick to install a new (used) door spring?

You absolutely can install this type without removing the door! It's been a while... I'll do my best. get the spring started at the top. With a bar move the bottom into position and tap it down into place. It seems like a mission impossible, but after you 'get it' it's really easy. Maybe you...

13 yr old sons 55 Chevy Gasser Project

I searched and searched but can not find a pic of another way to convert to 2 dr. I only wanted to share with you guys, not try to change your direction. My buddy in the mid 80's did a 4 to 2 dr conversion by shortening the car frame and essentially moving the rear forward. He grafted the front...

    Factory Sway Bar Options

That's what I said. The Camper Specials all had them. Big Blue (<<<) has one. It really doesn't need it though, with a Dana 70 and duals it's sticks.

    Alternator belt slip

I've brought old slick belts back to life by hitting them with sandpaper while the engine is running. yes it's fun sticking your hand in there, by a spinning fan and all but that's what makes life fun. This is a temporary fix until new belts. And yes if the pulleys are worn a new belt won't do much.

    Header/Exhaust thoughts

I advise newbie header folks to 'fit' the headers before you install them. Don't be afraid to hammer 'clearance dents' in the tubes. Also check if there is enough room to get an 8 point box end wrench on the header bolts. Sometimes a little clearance is needed in this spot. Of course use header...

    Looking at car lifts

A LOT stronger. I've seen the footings done to code, and that was several years ago.. so probably the requirements are now even more stringent. The footings I saw was about 2x4' and 12" thick under each leg. Lots of rebar and the mounting bolts with a 'T' on the bottom were installed. Not just...
