    front add-a-leafs (pic request)

Not a good idea Eric... you're putting a band aid on an infection. Your front springs are sacked, and propping them up with another spring will virtually have this spring pack fighting against it's self. I would suggest you hang in there until you can find a deal. New Tough country springs are...

1988 3/4 Ton Suburban - Front Leaf Spring Options

Deaver's prices might shock ya a bit.. I would try ORD first. They make a Deaver copy, multi leaf super flexy. They could set you up with a 2" lift which rides awesome and frankentruck above mentioned, unhook the the sway bar for more flex... but he didn't mention longer shocks for the bigger...

Figured out which mirrors I want. Anyone have them?

The original mirrors are the best ever. Strong, and even has a 'hand hold' for the left hand while your driving with the glass down. They are also vertically oriented, which IMO is the most important feature.

Wth is going on with this crap?

An aftermarket HEI dizzy I had let loose.. One of the weight pins broke off ad I lost advance... until the free weight arm jammed under the rotor and took ALMOST completely out. Was all twisted and the engine still ran... but rough! Like, really really rough. Fortunately, it was the first thing...

K20 shocks? Single or dual front and brand?

Hey Grits, I consider myself a bit of a shock expert as I have decades of broken shocks to learn from! Twin shocks are not two of the same... they come as a set and are valved softer. All they are supposed to do is last longer. If you want further dampening get a stiffer shock. Stiffer shocks...

    85 Crew Cab Dually

Is the frame notched for the lowering? Just thinking, if you're going to fart around with the frame maybe consider making a shortbox with the dually fenders and all. It would look stunning. Or get the narrow rear dually setup the cab only option trucks had. Then a fleetside box (with ample...

    Don’t think this is normal☹️

So is the wobble telegramming from the water pump shaft? Any play in the water pump shaft is a finished pump. Do you have clutch fan? Maybe the play is coming from that? Also replace...

    Rear Diff Leak

If you pull the cover Chris, check where the bolt holes are that the cover is not dished concave (from the outside going in) ever so slightly. If the previous gasket was on the thick side, then over tightening the bolts will dent the cover right at the bolt hole. Doesn't take much and it will...

    Steering gear rebuild - FAIL

That's correct, first without the engine running. and also good to note that if you're trying to bleed a box that has not been torn down, if it has any old transmission oil in it will never bleed. The tranny oil cavitates into froth. You can add tranny oil to your hydro oil after the system is...

Those 'custom' graphics in the late 70s-80s where just a film no? Those stripes were not painted on as I remember.

Guess I'm still pretty new around here...

I bet your glad you kept it all these years, nice one. So, what did this truck cost back then? I'll guess around $7500...? In '79 I priced out new K10 Silverado fully loaded was 10,000 in Canada

    rear frame specs

Oh well you're done already... well to hell with ya ! Naw just kidding joe and nice going getting your welds done. I would have left the tails until I knew what I was doing with the truck.. meaning make them as long or short as you need them. They could be theoretically longer or shorter...

    rear frame specs

If you're building more toward hard core trail use... you end the truck right after the hangers. Typical hard core mod ... (which I highly approve of :deal: )

If you do in fact go with the spray bomb, do the rust convertor still and then drop your paint cans in a tub or sink of scalding hot water. After a while drain the water and refill with hot hot. Heating up spray bomb really helps increase the pressure and atomization. Don't worry the cans won't...
