How... do you build a stepside?

Stepsides have supports going across the box that the wood flooring attaches to. The wood is held in place by metal strips and a ton of bolts. Here is a pic of mine after I took off the cross braces. Sorry I don't have a pic of them in place, but you can see the marks in the wood where they...

What have you done to your square lately??

Pulled the radiator out of my 82 diesel parts truck and installed it in my CUCV since the radiator in that split the last time I was plowing snow. The CUCV only had a 3 core in it and this one is a 4 core so hopefully it will cool better. Used to overheat from time to time with the plow up...

Harbor Freight recall on 6 ton stands

I have a set of grey ones, I wonder how you can tell if they are in the recall? Mine look the same as those orange ones, but grey.

What have you done to your square lately??

My 80 uses that type cloth, but my 78 is different. (Ignore the blanket on the bottom part of the seat) Edit: I guess it does look similar, but the 80 seems to have more of a "dot" pattern.

What would you pay for a nv4500 trans with use and wear, but functional when pulled

I am also wanting to put mine in a 4x4 which I believe is supposed to have some clearance problems if using the stock 4500 bellhousing. I really want to do this swap in the future, just having trouble getting facts on what stock parts will work without spending a bunch of cash on a Advance...

What would you pay for a nv4500 trans with use and wear, but functional when pulled

What makes the Dodge ones so much more expensive, are they better transmissions or just more in demand from Dodge owners? I thought that the GM and Dodge trannys were both pretty similar.

What would you pay for a nv4500 trans with use and wear, but functional when pulled

I thought the 4500 had a hydraulic clutch or was that just certain years? A hydraulic clutch bellhousing would have to be different than a bellhousing with an squarebody style mechanical throwout bearing.

What would you pay for a nv4500 trans with use and wear, but functional when pulled

I am thinking of doing the 4500 swap, but thought the stock GM bellhousing that comes with the 4500 won't work with a squarebody.

    Is this rare

I've come across several. I think it depends on where you are located. I have picked up a few over the years for little or nothing. I have a similar one for my old Ford, but only use it a couple of tomes a year and it sits in the garage the rest of the time.

What have you done to your square lately??

Finally got around to fixing my Gen 1 light that came on the last time I plowed snow. Figured I better fix it since we are supposed to get up to 8 inches of the white stuff tomorrow. Spent a couple hours troubleshooting and chasing wires before I figured out that it was the heater fuse...

    When is a cab too-far-gone?

I have actually bought a single pane out of a slider when I broke one of mine. I was lucky I found a glass shop that saved the good panes out of one when they replaced it.

    Save The Junk?

Welcome from South Dakota. I think he filled the cracks with spray expanding foam first. There are several posts from people that have cleaned and painted their door panels.

What have you done to your square lately??

Yes, the PEX replaces it. It is probably all chewed up, if not, the PEX won't make any difference.

Min Starters not all created equal

I'm pretty sure that the mini gear starters are OEM on the newer GMs (90s?). There are also aftermarket versions out there.

    1981 Stepside fenders

I think they carry the hose but not the pipe. I have the early style, and it is defiantly different from the fleetside.

    1981 Stepside fenders

Hopefully they didn't use the Ford fuel filler, stepside fuel fillers are not being re-popped, and can be hard to find.
