    Mounting tires at home

I was thinking about that much, didn't want to bolt it down then have to move it. I was looking for one with a powered bead breaker, but this one came up, and it's a lot better than breaking them down with a handy man jack and tire bars

    Mounting tires at home

I picked this machine up a couple of weeks ago, but not sure where to mount it. How close to the wall can I mount it?

What have you done to your square lately??

Picked up a pair of free doors on Craigslist. They are rusted out but the mirrors aren't too bad, and they are painted not stainless, which is what I need for the CUCV. Saved the glass, handles, and regulators. The shells will go to the scrap yard with an old bug that I scrapped out.

    Diesel won’t start

Good to know, don't want to screw it up any more than it is. Luckily I have another truck to drive (although it is a Ford:rolleyes:). I'll deal with this when the weather cools off, really don't have time to mess with it right now. Thanks for all of the input everyone.

    Diesel won’t start

I'll have to try that next time. I opened the hood so it could get some air, and it started up after a little cranking None of that yet, as I said, until it got this hot out, it would fire right off after the glow plug light went off. It's my plow truck, so I don't usually drive it much in...

    Diesel won’t start

Thanks, I’ll try to get the numbers, but it will probably be a day or two until I get over to the 82.

    Diesel won’t start

Damm, that’s not good. Do you know if a 82 uses the same pump? I have a complete 82 engine that I picked up in a parts truck.

    Diesel won’t start

Took the CUCV out this morning, started fine. Fired off as soon as I cranked it after the glow plugs light went out, as usual. Stopped for about an hour, and now it won’t start, cranks fine, but acts like it’s not getting fuel. It’s done this once or twice before, Burt usually starts after a...

What have you done to your square lately??

Not directly on my square, but made a dolly to move the snowplow when off the truck. Normally just drop it in the corner of the yard, and move it with the truck when I need to, but it’s coming off a truck I’m junking and won’t be mounted to the other truck for quite a while.

    Bending Hood

I think every early square that I've owned had a kinked hood. Braces just move the kink. You don't want to make it too strong because that weak spot is a safety feature, allowing the hood to crumple in an accident instead of going atraight into the cab. Keep the hinges oiled and push back and...

    Looking For One Of These

Checked the tranny and it has one. Let me know if you still need it and I'll pull it off. The tranny that went out is the early style 700r4, and I'm replacing it with the later style and won't have any use for this one, so don't mind taking parts off of it. Send me your address, cover the...

Welcome from South Dakota. Looks like some solid trucks, how much trouble is it finding parts there?

    Blazer tailgate issues

Put the burb handle on and lubed everything, working fine again. The handle that was on it was bent pretty bad inside the tailgate. Couldn't really tell until I removed it.

    Keyed the same ignition switches

Should be no problem. I've been told that all CUCV's use the same key. Not sure if that is true, but it explains the chain and padlock bolted under the drivers sear of mine:)

What have you done to your square lately??

Got the tailgate latch working on my CUCV. Inner handle was bent up inside, swapped out one I saved from the parts Burb, lubed everything, and it's good as new. It didn't want to shift the other day, had me worried that the tranny was going out, but I crawled under it and saw the vacuum...

    Blazer tailgate issues

Thanks Bucket, I'll have to check my parts stash because I think I saved some Suburban tailgate parts. Been too hot to mess with it today.

    Blazer tailgate issues

That's what I was thinking. I'll try rebending them and see what happens. I don't see any otner way to adjust them.

    Blazer tailgate issues

The tailgate on my CUCV has been hard to open, and finally wouldn't open at all, so I had to remove the access panel from the inside and pull on the rods to get it open. It looks like everything in there is OK, just not getting enough pull on the rods. Any ideas for adjusting it? Should the...

    Dumping Pickup Bed

That sure would be handy, wish I could find one. @71RAT keep us posted if you make your own, or if someone has plans for one, I would be interested. I assume the hydraulics could also run off the PTO, @Lugnut was the one on your truck a kit? Doesn't look homemade.

The clutch is here, 4500 conversion done by New Years. You hear that @frankenchevy?

Yeah, it did, but it wasn't the Covid, wife was diagnosed with cancer. Had to keep working to keep the insurance. The good news is that after an operation and chemo, they think she is cancer free. She goes in for a cat scan next week to be sure.
