    Sm465vsnv4500

Probably a horse a piece, strength wise. The sm465 was used in medium duty trucks. NV4500 will shift a bit smoother, but if you aren’t worried about OD, the SM465 will be much cheaper to buy.

Tire time need thoughts on slight size change

Interesting that you mention this. I have never seen or heard of any tire shops that do this anymore, but my dad tells stories of back in the early 70's when he was working in an auto parts store that they had just such a machine and they used it to "make the tires round."

Tire time need thoughts on slight size change

@SirRobyn0 I noticed a while back you had asked someone about Treadwright tires. I have quite a bit of experience with them. I have ran several sets of their Wardens (old BFG AT tread pattern) and have liked them. I have also ran some of the Claw's on my soil sampling pickups. Very good...

Tire time need thoughts on slight size change

Nice choice with the 265's and white letters out! ;). I typically run 50 psi most of the time in the tires on my Sooper Doodie and that is plenty unless I am going to pull the stock trailer. Rides better and you don't get that jarring in the back with every tar mark on the highway when you...

T-5 or T-56 Manual Trans swap

What do you have for a clutch setup currently? One thing to consider with the NV3500 is that you will need to have a hydraulic clutch. I think Advance Adapters sells a mechanical clutch bellhousing for NV4500's.

T-5 or T-56 Manual Trans swap

What gas mileage would you be expecting to "suck?" My '68 C10 with a mild 327 and SM465 4 speed with 3.73's probably gets 12-14 on the highway, but I'm not daily driving it, so the fun factor out weighs gas mileage. I quit worrying about it and just drive it. It's more enjoyable to mash the...

'73 Chevelle SS Wagon (local find)

Those cars are definitely an acquired taste, but they do grow on you the more you look at them. I have never seen an SS wagon like that before and it is awesome to see it being resurrected.

    New Process A833 4speed w/ OD MY6 MM7

Thanks for the knowledge! It’s been 20+ years since I had the 327 out when Dad and I rebuilt it. I couldn’t remember if the block had the threaded bolt holes or not. That would make things much simpler.

    New Process A833 4speed w/ OD MY6 MM7

@bucket I came across an NP833 2wd transmission with shifter and bellhousing. I am planning to swap this transmission into my '68 C10 at some point. I have a question about the bellhousing. My current '68 327 has the starter that bolts to the bellhousing. I was looking at the aluminum...

    Best Carbs for Cammed 350

A good rebuilt Q-jet is really hard to beat. The small primaries are great for throttle response and like said earlier they are plenty "big enough" with those large vacuum secondaries. My 454 powered motorhome has a Q-jet and when you get your foot into it and those big secondaries open up, it...

What are your thoughts on this Holley Sniper 2GC EFI

I have been dreaming about doing some sort of EFI I6 for a while now. I like the idea of the Sniper 2GC and think it would make a reliable option for you. Your '65 is a really cool pickup and a fuelie 292 would be a really unique and cool project. :favorites13:

So Does Everyone HATE This Steering Wheel?

I agree totally. I think the pre '95 GMT 400 pickups are the most comfortable for me to drive. Still have a "normal length" steering column, but have more leg room and a better seat than the squares. Squares are still pretty good though!

So Does Everyone HATE This Steering Wheel?

I thought that shifter looked like a Hurst! I was curious if it was an NP833. Man I would love to find one of those. Nice option!

Hey, what transmission do you have in your pickup?

    Old Tractors

Jubilee should be a '53 model. It is the successor to the 8N. I have a '54 model. They were called NAA's. Good little tractors!

That is badass! Very well done with the wide steelies and the hubcaps. I like it.

First Post 86 Suburban "Uncle Buck"

Welcome! Nice burb! Is there enough bolt sticking through were you could have someone press up on the bolt as you turn it from the top? Sounds like the threads could be stripped out.

    Air box diverter connector link

I did this and it worked. Thanks for the suggestion. On another note, make sure you know where the heater control cable is before you bolt the air distribution box back in. I pinched my heater cable between the box and the firewall and kinked it. Now I have to find a different cable. Argh...

What have you done to your square lately??

Where did you find your numbers, Andy @bucket? I found this site and it says the 250 weighs around 440 lbs compared to a small block being in the mid 500's? Looks like the old 235 inline six was a tank and weighed around 630 lbs....if this site is correct...

    Gotta get some tires!

Some of the factory rallies were 8” wide. Our burb has 15x8 rallies. One of our parts pickups had the narrower rallies that look like they are 7”

    Gotta get some tires!

30X9.50 15? There must be a metric size close to that, but don't have time to look it up at the moment.

    Air box diverter connector link

I have been working on changing the heater core in our '90 Suburban and now that I have the air distribution box out on the bench, I decided to try to fix that diverter/connector link thingie that is broken causing the air to come out the dash vents all the time. I ordered a new connector link...
