    Champion radiator difficulties

When your radiator arrives, measure it and compare it to the stock one. I’d be curious how yours measures up. I’m heading to Napa today to compare some top radiator hoses and see what I can find to make work.

    Champion radiator difficulties

Since you have a big block, is that the wider radiator? I ordered the 3 core for a V1500 with a 350. I’m pretty sure the big blocks had a wider radiator. Maybe Champion’s big block radiators fit better? I will look up the part number of the one I got.

    Champion radiator difficulties

Seems to fit pretty well after the modifications. The fan shroud ended up not sitting on the drivers side tank like with the stock radiator, so I decided to use a longer bolt and some spacers to hold the shroud out a little bit so it wouldn't rub on the fins of the radiator. Now I just need...

    Champion radiator difficulties

Ok, so here is what I ended up doing: first pic is showing where the passenger top mount in stock position would hit on the radiator. So I had to move the top mount over. I lined up the left hole in the mount with the original right hole in the frame support. I had to trim the little lip off...

    Champion radiator difficulties

The factory radiator gave up in our 90 Suburban, so I ordered a 3 core Champion aluminum one to replace it. I went this route because I’m not a fan of plastic radiator tanks, and this is supposedly a direct fit. Well, it is 1” narrower and about 1/4” shorter. I will have to move the passenger...

6.5 Turbo reliability for an RV?

I never did end up doing an engine swap. I was referring to the '78 model 454 that is in my motorhome. I highly doubt that a 6.5 would have the nylon coated timing sprockets...but I am far from an expert on 6.5's.

6.5 Turbo reliability for an RV?

I remember your ordeal with this and that is why I changed the timing set while I had the radiator and water pump out. That would definitely be one way to ruin a family vacation!

6.5 Turbo reliability for an RV?

I thought I should give an update on what I ended up doing. I pulled the radiator out and took it in to a radiator repair shop and they cleaned and inspected it. Put a new water pump in, along with a new timing chain and sprockets (to replace the 40 year old nylon sprockets before they decide...

Should i fix the TBI or go to carb? And what's this wire?

Before you ditch the TBI, read through all the info on this website: https://harristuning.com/Tbi/. Especially the recommendations section for 350 TBI's. There is a lot of good info on that site.

    New member. 87 V20 Stepside

Pretty sure our oilfield roustabout business had one of those 37 or 38 V20 stepsides. I know that we had 2 or 3 of them in the '80s that were diesels too, but pretty sure those were '82-'83 models. From 1961-1987 we had close to 50 8' stepside pickups. That is a cool find!

A request for assistance with Fuel transfer valve, switch, and fuel gauge

That is sweet! I love the black accents. My Dad's '77 is also having dual tank switch/valve/guage issues and we haven't been able to get it straightened out yet either.

    Crewcab with an I6. Hmmmm

That is not a 3 speed. It's a SM465 4 speed. They are confused because the knob says L,1,2,3. Looks like a 292, so that could be factory with the 4 speed.

    292 to 350 Swap

The passenger side mount on a 292 is farther ahead (between the distributor and the fuel pump) where the 250 mount is behind the fuel pump in the same location as the V8's.

What have you done to your square lately??

I really wanted one of these wheels to put in my '86 Monte Carlo back when I was in college in the late '90's. I knew a girl in college who had a Z34 Lumina with that wheel in it. I thought that car was so cool....haha *Edit* I guess this was the wheel I wanted for my Monte Carlo back then....

    New Process A833 4speed w/ OD MY6 MM7

If the transmissions are in good working order and have the shifters, linkages, and bellhousings, then I'd think $500/each is a good deal. They are hard to come by, and occasionally when I come across them on EBay, they want more than that. Make sure they are in good shape though...

    1985 K20 350ci Engine Swap Choice

Go with a dual plane manifold. Single plane manifolds are for high revving horsepower...not bottom end torque, which is what we are looking for in a pickup. An RV cam is also a better choice than something aggressive....again it is all about torque, especially in a 3/4 ton 4x4 pickup.

    Holy Grail of Squarebodys

It appears that a stepside bed was not available on a one ton 4x4....at least not in 1987.
