1986 Rare Build sheet? Tell me what you think!

Here is one of the 6.2 pickups when it was brand new in the summer of '82 in a parade. My dad is the guy sitting on top of the headache rack. He was pretty proud of that new Ditchwitch trencher on the trailer....we still have the trailer, but it doesn't look quite that shiny anymore! I have...

1986 Rare Build sheet? Tell me what you think!

I haven't seen a short box stepside diesel 4x4 before, but I do know that our family business had 3 or 4 K20 long box stepside 6.2 diesels with SM465 manuals. Pretty sure they were '82 and '83 models. We also had a couple 5.7 diesel stepside long box pickups, one a '78 and one a '79. My dad...

'89 GMC 'Burb grill swap questions

I never liked the GMT400's when they first came out, but then I ended up buying a '90 C1500 for college and really liked that pickup. I have to say, the Silverado seats from '90-94 are some of the best ever made. The dashes on the pre '95's definitely look dated, but they were very typical for...

Are you running the optional "part-time" 4x4 kit there?....no front drive shaft ;)

How do I use the tank selector on 1973 Camper Special

That auxiliary fuel tank looks like something added by a camper dealer. It was pretty common to add them to pickups when slide in campers were purchased to add more range. The ones I have seen set up that way did not have the fuel gauge hooked up, so the gauge only worked for the factory...

    Bvllsh!t on craigslist.

Same up here in ND. I have heard that the salt is cheaper than cutting edges on the V-plows.....Or maybe it's just easier to spread the salt/brine. Drives me nuts when it is 15 degrees out and snowing and they are spraying the brine (which makes the snow stick to the roads) instead of just...

    '88 TBI Build

Take a look at this website. I had this guy burn a chip for my suburban. Lot of interesting stuff on TBI mods including build ideas. https://harristuning.com/Tbi/

I really miss my 1990 C10 that I had in college. Loved those seats.

What did you pay for a square

That is a rare bird there! I know the 5.7 was an option in '81, but this is the first one I have ever seen. Super cool that you fixed up your Grandpa's pickup. What gear ratio is in that? Most had 2.73 or 3.08's, but 3.42's were an option. My dad had a '79 5.7 with 3.42's and he really...

MY 1976 GMC ROYAL SIERRA 15 SHORT BED WITH A 454 SPRIT OF 76

I agree...as rare as it is, I'd leave it stock. Don't lower it. There is a local guy here who has an all original Spirit of '76 Chevy K10. 400V8, auto and 203 transfer case and factory AC. It is all white with blue interior. He bought it new. I've been telling him I'll buy it from him if he...

    350 to 292 swap.

The 292 would work for what you are wanting to do. They do make decent off-idle torque and obviously were used in medium duty trucks for that reason. Low-end torque is the most important factor for pickups, especially if you are going to tow a little with it. Is there anything wrong with the...

Questions about '74 All Time 4wd, HELP

When you said this suburban is from Minnesota, make sure you go around with a magnet or something and double-check for bondo. It appears to have had some body work done at some point. (the grill looks like a '77, and the hood looks like it has been repainted along with what appears to be '80's...

Trying to do this properly this time.

The only time I remember someone getting riled up enough to be memorable was a 6.2-loving guy...haven't seen him around in a while. But I don't think he pissed anyone off, just had thin skin and didn't take jokes well.

What have you done to your square lately??

Did you do any other enhancements to the 292 like lump ports in the heads? I'm curious to hear how you like the Sniper on that 6.

    Champion radiator difficulties

I looked and the part number for my Champion radiator is CC716. https://www.championradiators.com/product/CC716 I notice now that they list the inlet as 1.5". I didn't notice that when I ordered it. Just assumed it would be the same as the stock one.

    Champion radiator difficulties

I have been searching for an upper hose also, and actually ordered the Gates 25484 also since I couldn't find one with 1.5" inside diameters on both ends.

    Wheel/Tire Opinion

This is the size I put on my ‘68 C10. I’m very happy with them. Got Mastercraft Avenger G/T tires in white letter. Similar to Cooper Cobras or BFG T/A’s but a little less money.
