    Double Dingo's 1965 3/4 Ton "Crusty Biscuit"

Does it make the sound when the pickup is going over a bump or turning a corner and you get some articulation or body lean/flex? The coil springs in my '68 C10 will make some noise sometimes in those situations.

Can I Get a Build Sheet?

Scottsdales should have body molding. Custom Deluxe wouldn't unless it was ordered with a upgrade appearance package if I remember correctly. Deluxe front appearance package that is on your SPID I think was the quad headlights like a Silverado would have came with.

6.5 Turbo reliability for an RV?

Thanks for the pictures. I was wondering what to do with the tranny cooler and AC condenser if I added a pusher electric fan.

    Double Dingo's 1965 3/4 Ton "Crusty Biscuit"

My one bit of advice: take that Fram filter and throw it in the trash. Those things are a problem waiting to happen. I'm enjoying this thread. Very cool to see a 292!

    Newbie 74 step side

That's a sweet ride! Has a few custom things like badges from '69-70 (which look cool), newer mirrors, and wide steel wheels. Tastefully done. Drive it and enjoy!

    3 on the tree

Perry, that's a great story! I have tried to get my dad on this forum, but he just isn't very comfortable with computers. He sold that old Impala when my brother and I were little kids in the early 80's. He pulled the 283 first and put it his '69 C10 pickup that he had at the time. He did end...

    3 on the tree

My dad is from your generation and he had a '62 Impala with a 235, and a Muncie 3 speed on the column back in the late 60's - early 70's. He borrowed the car to a friend who blew up the 235, so he overhauled a 283 and put a floor shifter in. Said the same thing, couldn't afford a 4 speed swap!

    3 on the tree

Yes it is a Borg Warner overdrive unit. I'm certain it is a Muncie 3 speed now. The Saginaw 3 speeds had 7 bolt side covers evidently and the light duty Muncie 3 speeds had 4 bolt side covers. I found this website that had some good info on it that helped me ID it...

    3 on the tree

After doing some research, this might be a Muncie and not a Saginaw because it is a 4 bolt side cover instead of a 7 bolt side cover. @DoubleDingo which transmission is in Crusty Biscuit?

    3 on the tree

I was reading @DoubleDingo 's thread on Crusty Biscuit and it made me think about this topic. My dad acquired this 3 speed OD transmission a few years ago. I believe it is out of a '67 C10. I have no idea if it was a 6 cylinder or V8 pickup. He wanted me to put this in my '68 C10 in place of...

6.5 Turbo reliability for an RV?

I tried to take a couple pics of the radiator. Any suggestions on what electric fan may work?

    Wagon wheels? Can’t decide.

I dig those wide steelies. I'd like to find a set of those for our suburban someday.

    Wagon wheels? Can’t decide.

I actually like the stock wheels and hub cap look.

6.5 Turbo reliability for an RV?

That is a good point. I mentioned earlier about the factory gauge being rather vague. I probably will get mechanical temp gauge and see what I am actually running for temps.

6.5 Turbo reliability for an RV?

I will start saving my money. Maybe it will be a retirement project for me in 20 years. :rockit:

6.5 Turbo reliability for an RV?

It does have a hefty trans cooler already. I do think electric fans in addition to the big clutch fan and an engine oil cooler would probably help a lot. An 8.1 would be a cool swap too. Having modern fuel injection and a 4L80E would be sweet. Realistically, warming up the 454 (heads...

Where is Brush Truck Repair located over there?

6.5 Turbo reliability for an RV?

That would be a great engine/transmission swap idea for my '90 burb! ;) I read on another forum that a guy who had an older Winnebago on a Dodge chassis bought a 90's Ford ambulance for cheap and swapped the 7.3/A4OD into his motorhome. I have thought about the bus idea before too. Would be...

What is that jump seat out of originally? That is cool.

    Best tire on a budget

Is the SPID label still in the glovebox in your pickup? It would be interesting to know what size it originally came with. That is a sweet looking pickup with the steel wheels and hubcaps.

6.5 Turbo reliability for an RV?

I think the main reason I started this thread was to explore ideas about swaps, pros vs. cons, in an RV. I understand that it never would be economic to do a swap, (as a Cummins swap in a square body pickup probably is rarely an economic swap either) but thought it could be an interesting...

    Best tire on a budget

With the 250 6 cylinder...I'd stick with a 235 75R 15 or equivalent diameter. Probably don't want to go a whole lot wider on those stock 6-7" wide steelies. Should be lots of options out there in 15's for a decent price. Mastercraft tires are a good option for the money (made by Cooper). Seems...

6.5 Turbo reliability for an RV?

One of the challenges will be finding a better radiator. It has a vertical radiator which appears to be somewhat of an odd ball. I'd like to upgrade to a bigger/better one, but not sure where to look. I should put a mechanical temp gauge in it as the current gauge just has C and a slash in...

6.5 Turbo reliability for an RV?

Yeah, I started this thread to float some ideas and see what people's opinions were on doing a diesel swap in an old RV. What I like about this forum is all the different ideas and how most of us here enjoy older vehicles. Truthfully, the 454 runs great and it is a blast to drive. There is...

    From a 700R to a Muncie M21 or M22 or a Borg Warner T-10

What has been causing the 700R4 troubles? Do you tow a lot? Just curious.
