I like the relay because it routes full current away from the headlight switch and the old, restrictive wiring on our trucks. The headlight switch becomes just a "switch" to activate the relay. As far as connecting the hi/lo wires, halogens draw a lot of current. You're asking for trouble imho...- Big Ray

How much does tire size effect speedometer?
I have 33's on mine now, works out to %14 larger than stock. My speedo reads %14 slower than what I'm actually doing, confirmed with a GPS app. I'm going to make a rpm chart with various common speeds, i.e. 35, 45, 55, 65, 75. I'll use my tach as a speedo.- Big Ray

Decent ball joint press
Did another thorough search in the garage yesterday. Been going through boxes, cleaning and taking boxes to the dump. Getting it sorted and organized ever so slowly.. I'm sure it's gone now. Looks like ill have to go with the 6.5 manifolds. What a pain in my balls... -
Decent ball joint press
I had just bought one some years back before we moved in '18. Lost it, along with all the ball joints and u-joints for my front end. Moving f'ing sucks!!! -
NP833, A440, MY6 folks
It's not rusted or sized. The shift lever moves front to back, but not sided to side. Feels jammed, sideways motion wise. The 3 "fingers" that move the rods all move freely. I'll take it down to "parade rest" and see whats what. The want $425+ for them on flea bay. -

NP833, A440, MY6 folks
hey yall. Recently bought an old unit for my K5. My shifter is all mucked up. Took it off, cleaned & lubed it but its still mucked. Doesn't move side to side, only forward and aft. Any hints on what I may be missing? Used ones are sky high, rather fix the one I have... As always, thanks in advance! -

I always used a fuel treatment. I believe my rubber lines developed leaks, allowing it to suck air.- Big Ray

They were called red blocks, because they were painted red. You are correct, they had a higher nickel content as speced by Detroit Diesel, who designed the engine. They also speced forged crankshaft that GM cheaped out on and changed to cast, along with cutting the nickel content. All to save a...- Big Ray

As far as keeping the low beams on, there's a simple relay mod that will do that. Did it on my 89 pickup. Summit sells a kit or you can diy if can wire it up. Schematics all over the web. Works great for power windows too. Need 2 per window, one for up, one for down. Iirc, the H4 was remove and...- Big Ray

Pass. side looks like this: most important part of the kit! Never dealt with him, but I have read from various folks he can be a *****. I've never driven a turboed 6.2, but it's got to be better than n/a! I just like diesels. I use to drive semis, listening to my kitty cat purring at night...- Big Ray

Turn Signal Troubles
check the connectors under the bed. Broken tabs let connectors work loose, look for corrosion and as mentioned bad grounds. Edit: whoever invented those wire taps needs to be horsewhipped!- Big Ray

6.2 years to avoid?
my 90 6.2 had 385k when it died. Motor is good, fuel system needs some love. Of course, I can't say if it's the original engine. But it ran like a champ, until it didn't. I have a built replacement i.p., and injectors. Need a new fuel tank and fuel lines replaced. 3/4ton burb, 2wd, 6.2, th400...- Big Ray

Steering arm conical washer removal without swinging a hammer for 2 hours
