I drove from coastal NC to CA in a rental to get my K5. Should have driven to the CA coast so I could say I've been coast to coast lol.

This is a really fine site for figuring your r.p.m.'s and speed, at specific tire sizes and gear ratios.
Or find a gear ratio for a specific r.p.m. with a specific tire size.
Or whatever else you may need to...
3.73 or 4.10...
Multiple those by .72 to calculate your effective o.d. ratio...
3.73 = 2.68
4.10 = 2.95
Some other options
4.56 = 3.28
4.88 = 3.51
I had an 87 with a 305, 2.73 gears without overdrive. Damn near got me killed so many times I lost count. I did a lot of traveling on 2 lane roads...
And here's what the sending units look like. The filter socks clog up with time, and sometimes the pickup rusts up real bad, sometimes breaking off.
Sometimes the rubber lines in the system swell up,, or dry out and crack causing air leaks.
Maybe it's not the pump...
The tank will rust, clogging the pickup sock.
If the rubber lines deteriorate, swell up, crack or swell up.
If they're cracked they will suck air.

I bought a motor without the stock setup
Came with 3k in New parts. Cam, lifters, roller rockers, Springs, distributor...basically everything to make it run minus an induction system.
Too good to pass up, got it all for 2500$.
