    1980 "K20" build

Nice truck. Make sure you replace that stock steering stabilizer. My truck is somewhat similar to yours, and with the stock steering stabilizer, it was downright scary to drive over 50. You can get a single Rancho to go in the stock location for like $60 on Amazon. You might want duals though...

Time for this beast to get a CB Radio LOL

Doubt it'll get a whole lot of use, since I can't talk to Smokey anymore lol, and smartphones have taken over for the most part, but who knows. I have some remote property, and cell service can get spotty. Also, there's always that possibility of a natural disaster, SHTF scenario, where cell...

Got the new in box vintage gun rack put in recently, and now I've found a new in box CB from 1985. Good times... Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk

Fuel gauge not accurate after filling up.

Well, I get it if you can't get non ethanol fuel without going that route. Sounds like one beast of an engine Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk

Fuel gauge not accurate after filling up.

Holy cow, dude. At 8-10 MPG, I suppose you're just letting it all bleed out with the added costs of that fuel, and no real gain for doing so lol Sent from my SM-T720 using Tapatalk

You can't get ethanol free in 87 octane? Sent from my SM-T720 using Tapatalk

Slightly off topic, but you run a square on 91 octane? Seems unnecessary, and expensive. Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk

Just when I think I have my carb dialed in, I don't

They did, luckily. Started it this morning. Frost on the vehicle everywhere, it was so cold. Two pumps, fired right up. Idled nicely, choke opened and fast idle increased to a normal level. Let it sit for a short bit, blipped throttle to take it off idle and it sat there and purred. Sent from...

Just when I think I have my carb dialed in, I don't

Success! This was the final small detail that needed to be sorted out, and I think it fixed it. I started it just like yesterday, and as it started to stumble and idle rough, I slowly opened the choke manually. As I did this, it smoothed out. So, I loosened the choke adjustment cap on the side...

Just when I think I have my carb dialed in, I don't

I decided to bump down my idle when it's in park and warmed up by just a tad, and then I turned the high idle screw two turns to the left, so we'll see how the effects things tomorrow morning Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk

Just when I think I have my carb dialed in, I don't

Thanks for the input. I'm not trying to change it, per se. It's just that since getting it, I have replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, added K&N, fuel filter, thermostat, and on and on. I wanted to make sure the carb was dialed in after all of that so I was maximizing fuel economy and drive...

Also, not sure about what cam it has. If it's like how everything else was built on this truck, I would assume the cam is different from stock Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk

Just when I think I have my carb dialed in, I don't

I don't have a tach (or a temp one), but I can't imagine having the idle set much higher than it is. Seems high already. Were you able to get the video to play, and hear my fast idle? Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk

Just when I think I have my carb dialed in, I don't

This truck had a frame off restoration and repaint, so all the stickers are gone. Have you tried the video again? Seems to be working fine. That's good news about the high idle needing to be manually turned off by blipping the throttle. I thought I had heard some folks saying eventually high...

Just when I think I have my carb dialed in, I don't

OK, guys. Before I did anything else I wanted to do a video of me starting and idling the truck stone cold with the air filter on. You'll notice at about 45 seconds, it kind of stumbles and idles rough for a bit and then the idle increases and it smooths out. The high idle setting stayed on even...

Just when I think I have my carb dialed in, I don't

It runs great once it's warmed up. Hell, it runs great when it's stone cold too, other than the first bit where it stumbles and either dies or continues to stumble until the choke opens more. That's why I adjusted the choke this morning to be more open. I'm hoping that'll fix it. Once the truck...

Just when I think I have my carb dialed in, I don't

Also, I'm not sure what kind of fuel pressure it's putting out. Also, I have already verified with a light that it gets power to that plug with the key on only. I assume that means it's 12v, but haven't verified with a voltmeter that it's 12 Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk

Just when I think I have my carb dialed in, I don't

No, what I mean is that I turned it left to open it, and then right to close it until it just touched the credit card, but if I left it at that setting, the white line was way left of the left most hash mark and the truck wouldn't start. So, I adjusted the choke so it's near the left most hash...

Just when I think I have my carb dialed in, I don't

I don't know what to think anymore. I followed these instructions, but in order to set it like that, the white mark on the electric choke knob must be spun so far to the left that the marker is way to the left of any of the hash marks, and the power and ground plugs are sticking straight up. I...

Just when I think I have my carb dialed in, I don't

And when you say "set the choke" before adjusting, does that mean pump the accelerator once or twice first, leave key to on position so electric choke is getting power, and THEN adjust the choke? Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk

Just when I think I have my carb dialed in, I don't

I just watched this video on how to adjust the choke on an Edelbrock carb, and they are suggesting you put a credit card here and adjust it until it touches the card, and then tighten it down and remove the credit card. Not having that little extra air gap may very well be why it stumbles while...
