    yes u need to be on num 1 comp stroke not num 6

    iv used that 11 and 5 oclock with the oil pump shaft and it works very well, keep your vac can pointing to num 6 plug and rotor cap at num 1

    your rotor cap needs to be pointed at num 1 plug and the vac advance can pointed some were in the area of num 6 plug

    pull your dist cap, get it up on number 1 comp stroke and see were your dist cap is pointing if u can take some pictures that would help

    iv got an 86 gmc with the 305 and had the same set up u have, as soon as i put in a diff dist and carb my fuel milage went down bad . if i were u i would leave it as is and drive it

    u will be suprised at how mutch better the engine will run with your vac adv on full manifold vac

    yes u have it on the correct port for timed adv, but u need manifold vac .

    u got the vac adv hooked to timed port u need the other port for manifold vacume

    did u pull the line going to the carb and see if u r getting gas?

    put in a new gas filter in the carb

    first i would pull the fuel line going to the carb, crank it over to see if getting gas, if not go to fuel pump and the rubber lines , not being snarky but is there gas in the tank ?
