    Reliable bed lights

Has anyone come up with some reliable bed lights? For an uncovered bed. I'm looking for some LED's to run underneath the sides of the bed, at the top. Mounting them and wiring them up isn't a problem for me. It's finding some that will last through the years. I've had a friend that tried a...

Has anybody modded the sun visors?

Underneath the headliner. Get power from the dome light. The flip cover is the switch that turns on the lights. But it sounds like the burb passenger side has me covered. Beyond that I might have to rig something up myself. Might just have to cannibalize a burb passenger side and add it to the...

What's the midway point between long bed and short bed?

To clarify, are you referring to the step side bed? Sorry if this is obvious. I've been up all night. If so, I was only talking about the fleet side beds. Trying to get a step side bed to be a 7 footer seems like a nightmare. Unless you're like a master fabricator or something.

Has anybody modded the sun visors?

Hi all. I wanted to stop by and ask if anyone has ever ran electricity to the sun visors. I'm going to recover mine, so I figured now is the time. I would like to add flip open mirros with LEDs in them. Not sure if it's possible with the factory ones though. Unless the arm itself is hollow. I...

What's the midway point between long bed and short bed?

Maybe I'm missing here, but it looks you'd just modify a dually to get that result.

How To Build Custom Door Panels

I know this is a door panel thread, but it's worth mentioning that the same heating method can be used to expertly repair a cracked dash. As we all know these factory dashes are very prone to cracking. Generally speaking they just don't hold up over time. However, if you could heat the vinyl...

What's the midway point between long bed and short bed?

I always thought the short beds looked too short. Just a personal preference I guess. But every time I see one I wonder what a mid-bed truck would look like. A truck with a bed length that was somewhere between the long bed, and short bed. I'm guessing this would be a rare modification indeed...

    Critical of those giant consoles

I think it can be done, but it might require more money, ingenuity, and effort that most people want to put into it. So instead they just build the bulky consoles. You could come from underneath the dash, and have that be the mounting point. If you wanted to get real fancy with it, you could...

    Critical of those giant consoles

Somebody has to say it, so I guess it's me! Does anyone else think those large, elongated car-like consoles look out of place in a single cab truck? I think a lot of these home builders are seeing them in cars and forgetting that trucks generally don't have them. For these kinds of things, I...

How to send power to window switch for testing?

Now if I can just come up with a way to get "Auto" embossed onto the switch. That might involve a 3D printer.

How to send power to window switch for testing?

Yeah I can already tell it's gonna be cool. When I was programming it (very easy to do) the driver's side worked just like a newer vehicle does. It will be real nice at the drive thru when you need the window to just go down on it's own. That's where I've noticed the old windows the most. You're...

Any pics of the 70's paint scheme on an 80's truck?

You could play it like this - Enjoy the solid red for several more years. Later on, add the stripe. You got to have the best of both worlds. Long time with red, long time with stripe. For the 80's, it looks to me like they usually painted the roof the color as the bottom of the truck. The...

How to send power to window switch for testing?

Well thanks to all for the help. I pretty much have it figured out now. I'm going to replace all the felts. Got all the glass out. Just waiting on felts to arrive. The old felt had some bald spots I couldn't see until I had it out of there. The glass might be dragging on those. Someone...

    70’s tailgate on 87

I didn't think there were any anti ford people left lol. Everyone and their dog has the F150 these days and Ford's reliability has probably surpassed GM at this point. But I think that happened in the late 2000's early 2010's. I always thought it was funny to see chevy guys hate on ford, but...

Any pics of the 70's paint scheme on an 80's truck?

I wanted to stop by and ask if anyone knows how that idea works out. It looks like the "stripe" that runs down the side of the 70's trucks, is slimmer than the one found on 80's trucks. If you have an 80's truck, you don't get a different colored roof unless you don't have the paint stripe...

Besides LMC, is there any other website to order the triangle windows...as a complete assembly?

Save money and only buy exactly what you need. Sounds like all you needed was the rubber. Is any of the metal rusty? Get the rust off and hit it with some black spray paint. How is the piece that the glass sits in? I hear that piece is a common problem. Does the lever to open the window still...

How to send power to window switch for testing?

Yes I thought about doing this.. might still do it. But can't you run power from the battery to the motor without cutting off the plug? I have that Power Probe thing and it has a prong where you can send power (or ground) to whatever you want. Obviously you gotta be pretty careful when using...

How to send power to window switch for testing?

Yeah it's kind of a tough repair because it's inside the freakin' door. And don't drop any screws or anything, might have a hard time getting them back out. Although yours sounds like maybe it's binding up. But your post highlights why I wanted to run power straight to the motor while...

How to send power to window switch for testing?

So if I take your meaning, you're saying there's no need for me to run power to anything. Just check those two grounds? Sorry about all the noob questions, I'm something of an electrical newb.

How to send power to window switch for testing?

Unfortunately it had no effect. Makes me think I got lucky on the driver's side. Works great after installing a new AC Delco motor and regulator. Looks like I need to feed power to the brown wire, and then the blue wire. Someone said the pink wire also carries power but I think it's just the...

How to send power to window switch for testing?

I'm trying to fix my slow passenger side window in my 87 truck. It's slow going up and down, and it needs a person to help it go up. I have already replaced the window motor and the regulator with new AC Delco stuff. So we can rule that out. I need to test and see if it's a poor voltage...

Can these screws also be used for the vent windows?

Thanks! But is there any reason the conical washer is needed? Would a regular washer and screw work fine? The truck it's for is an 87 model, if that matters.

How To Build Custom Door Panels

Is this man still around? It was almost 10 years ago when this thread was made. I'd like to ask a question... Has anybody done what he did, but made the panels look factory? Basically just cover a panel in factory colored vinyl, and make cut outs for all the trim. And everything else that...

Can these screws also be used for the vent windows?

Hi all. I wanted to ask if these are the same size screws that hold in the vent windows. I'm referring to the screws that go in the door, but they're for fastening the vent window to the door: (1973-78) Door Panel Retainer Screws - Chrome Head...

Besides LMC, is there any other website to order the triangle windows...as a complete assembly?

I'd go ahead and just rebuild yours. Youtube has some good videos on how to do it. It's not difficult, nor is it difficult to get them out of there. And you'll save a good deal of money. You will of course be ordering some parts, but it will be a lot cheaper than ordering the whole assembly.
