    No fuel pressure

Looks like I'm back to square one on this issue as my truck won't start and I can't hear the fuel pump turn on. All fuses, relays, and wiring are good and making good contact. I measured voltage and amps at the fuel pump fuse and on the wire right before the pump, with both spots getting 12V and...

    NV4500 swap behind a 5.3 LS

When I did my nv3500 I had a couple transmissions to try. The older ones with the external slave interfered with the 5.3 at the oil pan. I read somewhere that the NAPA slave cylinder is narrow enough to fit, I bought it but ended up going with a diff nv3500 with internal slave so I never...

Need ideas for a modern steering wheel.

I used this wheel in my nova. I really like the look of it, but depending on the brand you get, the rivets can be counter sunk (feels weird and has sharp edges) and the metal spokes are quite sharp especially with manual steering. It’s so sharp that it’s a hazard when the wheel corrects quickly...

    aloha from honolulu hawaii

Nice ride (and security system). Its gotta be hard to source parts out there for the older cars, good on you for the effort. It must get a lot of looks on the island.

    Trading 74 C20 for 73 C30 Dually

Why do you say the c30 body is in better shape than the c20? Because it has some paint on it? Your c20 looks alright from the photo just a little patina. If you like the dually look more than yours and you like the blue paint instead of the patina then I suppose thats the way to go, especially...

New Member - '86 Short Box LS Swap - TerminatorX

I did a Gen3 5.3 in mine. Used a PSI Performance harness and PCM. Those guys are good and will provide tech support. Their installation manual was good too. There were only a few tie ins from the PSI engine harness to the trucks harness which are shown in the installation instructions. I left...

    Amazon TIG welders?

Not sure about the ones on amazon, but I bought a cheapo from Harbor Freight and have no regrets (Titanium line). Its a flux core inverter welder that can do most jobs for an amateur (me) like welding exhaust and some floor patches. I'd recommend going for the welder. If you get really good with...

    Looking for a shift knob.

I got it on ebay from CustomShifters (seller 4172wfc). Very pleased with the work. Tell this guy what thread size and pitch and he'll give you that plug. I think billiard balls are a little bigger than a normal shifter knob size, so it feels a little different but got some good weight to it and...

    Careful buying online- Camaro 1979

I always find it interesting that sellers will lie about issues, like after you buy the truck you don't know where they live. I'd be terrified to sell any of my vehicles without being fully honest. As for the sunroof, that show wheeler dealer did a SR removal that looked so good and so easy...

    C10 Club in Connecticut

Yea I’m not sure why. Maybe the trucks are too rusty up here? There’s usually a handful at any respectable car show though. It could just be the grumpy New England attitude preventing any socialization.

    No fuel pressure

Fixed! Thank you to everyone that chimed in with help! Turned out to be connectors at the relay, and possibly a burned connector to the fuse block. The continuous 12v to the relay was only getting power at ignition too, so I put that on a true constant 12v. When I tried to run it with only the...

    No fuel pressure

Are you saying my cheapo Harbor Freight multimeter can't sustain a little current lol. Thanks for explaining the electrical differences with load/no load. That could easily be the problem...voltage at the terminal but none when it tries to start the pump. I swapped the 2 relays on the fuse...

    No fuel pressure

Put a multimeter on the power wire, not on the pump yet and its reading between 1-20 microA.

    No fuel pressure

Huge thanks for the write up. When I just checked it this morning, I disconnected the pump and got the 12V. When I tried to get the reading on the wire while it was connected to the pump, I couldn't get a reading. Figured it was just a bad connection. I'll go check that again. Then bench test...

    No fuel pressure

I'm getting 12V to the pump, confirmed this morning. So I'm thinking its either a bad power connection, a bad ground, or a bad ground. If its none of those, then this is the most quiet pump invented (along with its relay) and the lack of ignition is another problem all together.

    No fuel pressure

I tried checking voltage at the pump while the wife keyed the ignition but couldn’t get a good read. That’s why I did a continuity check of the wire from the relay to the pump. I’ll check voltage there today. Any idea how I could have a good wire but lose 12v from the relay to the pump? Also, I...

    No fuel pressure

I went to move my truck in the driveway last week and it was acting like it was out of gas (I don’t have a working fuel gage). I didn’t need to move it anymore, but I put some gas in it and left it. This weekend I went to start it and no luck. No noise coming from the fuel tank led me to a no...

    Ls swap or not?

What are you looking to do with the truck? Unless you plan on challenging folks or if it really gets you excited to have the power of an LS when you never really need it, why bother swapping? From the way you describe it, it sounds like an awesome truck. Once you swap it, it never seems as...

    Lowering the front and rear

A flip kit would lower the back about 5". Some people say a c-notch is required for that, but I'm not planning on notching my frame with the drop (parts currently in hand). Will need shock extenders too. @bluex and @ChuckN have a thread in the suspension category on this with part numbers etc.
