    LS 5.3 High Idle

FIXED!! Brought the truck to a friend who had access to HP Tuners and a lot of experience with LS swaps. Trying to lower the idle RPM in HP Tuners was not possible as the IAC position was at 0%, so the truck is still acting like there is a vacuum leak when there is none. There is an orifice...

    Truck's looking good Chad!

    LS 5.3 High Idle

Quick update on this. I brought the truck to a tuner thinking they could find the problem on the computer side. Unfortunately they said they couldn't do anything until the idle was fixed and suggested I replace the IAC. Went the cheap route, got the Amazon special TPS and IAC, cleaned the TB at...

Have you used off-brand injectors before or used GM injectors only?

    LS 5.3 High Idle

Thanks guys. A coworker with HP tuners may be able to help me out with getting data before I head to the tuner in a week. One more thing I forgot to mention…it’s also doing what I think is called rpm hang. When I give it some gas in neutral, the rpm’s rise but take extra long to come back down...

    LS 5.3 High Idle

Thanks for the input. I'll see about moving the MAF further from the throttle body, but the wire on the harness is only so long. The knock sensors were Amazon specials. Did you get you knock sensors from the chevy dealership? No info on the motor's miles. Came with the C10 (in the bed) and was...

    LS 5.3 High Idle

I checked for vacuum leaks but attaching my air compressor to the brake booster line (5-10psi) with a latex glove over the intake at the MAF. The glove stays inflated for a long time when I turn off the air. Leaks were identified with soapy water. I'm confident there are no vacuum leaks (even...

    LS 5.3 High Idle

I'm having a high idle issue, seems to be a common problem (according to the internet) but I haven't seen anything posted in these threads with all of your expert assistance. Embarrassingly enough, I think this has been an issue since swapping the motor in and I just never really picked up on it...

    Wheel and tire size help!!

@bluex a while back I did the axle flip kit as you recommended (and while we are on the topic of lowering), currently procrastinating grinding off the stock bump stops to install low profile ones. The stock stops are resting on the axle...is there any damage that could happen to the axle for...

    Brake booster bolts

Thanks guys. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something obvious before punching holes in the firewall. Put two holes in it today. Turned out pretty good I think.

    Brake booster bolts

Looking for advice on the upper bolts for the brake booster. The truck didn’t have a booster when I got it so I think that’s how it came stock. I can’t think of how to fasten the top of the brake booster to the truck. There’s just enough space to drop a thin nut behind the firewall bracket, no...

How is everyone making their wiring look not a mess under the hood.?

Great advice Zach, I'm going to take your advice and reroute the fuel line that way. What fitting did you use to go fuel rail quick disconnect to AN line?

    Vent window trick?

I'm talking about gaps between the glass and gasket, along the bottom and the diagonal edges. I can get some photos of it tonight. The frame itself went back in the door no issues.

    Vent window trick?

Did you have any gaps after installing the gasket or is it just my workmanship?

    Vent window trick?

I used that trick...cut the inside of the gasket instead of taking the window out of the frame. Worked great! The nut and other hardware was pitted, like it would strip if I tried to back it out any more than I already had tried, so this trick saved me that headache. The kit I used was precision...

    Plans for the summer.

Almost forgot to suggest...bring a fire extinguisher too. Not so much for the fuel system as it is for an old electrical system.

    Plans for the summer.

Thanks for the add Chad. Just like Spencer said, most components can be picked up stock in local stores, and of course consumables (oil, coolant, etc.). Maybe run through the cooling system one last time, check hoses/clamps, see if rad needs replacing if its not keeping the temps down, and...

How is everyone making their wiring look not a mess under the hood.?

I used the split mesh loom as well. Purchased the non split by accident first and it was unusable. Don't mind the loose wires under the wiper pump...I'm almost done wiring the alarm system. Still looking to clean up the engine bay by rerouting the battery lines and maybe some less crusty brake...

How is everyone making their wiring look not a mess under the hood.?

If you are talking about adding additional holes in the firewall and need a grommet for that, they make great glands for that. It’s easier to use and looks better than regular grommets. Here is the product I used. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077R1RT2T/

    Horn has no power

Couldnt agree more with @RustyPile 's response. I just had to do this on my truck after I replaced the turn signal cancel piece (part #11). Mine was missing a piece (I probably threw away thinking it was a bonus part and really only checked operation of the cancel aspect), so I had to fabricate...

    Vent window trick?

This seems like a great idea. I need to replace my weatherstripping but had lost motivation after reading how big of a headache it is to do this job. Based on others' experiences, I figured I would pay the $500 to Precision to have them deal with the headache, but this gives me hope. This means...

    Venture a guess…

What transmission do you have? I have a toggle in that spot on mine. The previous owner went from three on the tree to floor mounted. The switch was for reverse lights. I replaced the transmission to one that has a reverse switch but kept the toggle in parallel so I can turn on the back up...

    74 c10 5/7 Drop-Will It Rub??

I dropped mine close to your specs. Axle flip kit in the back and 2" drop springs, 2.5" drop spindles in the front. Ridler wheels 20x8.5, 4.75BS front, 20x10, 5.5BS in back. Fullway tires 245/45 and 275/45, no rubbing while driving normal, some minor rubbing at full turn.

    No fuel pressure

Dumb fix again. Just needed to post about it to figure it out despite troubleshooting the majority of the morning. I just double checked the two power wires at the stock fuse box that go to the wire harness (for a second time today) and wiggling them around seemed to do the trick. Next task is...
