    86 C20 manual with 454 calls for 3 pumps on a cold engine, 1 pump on a warm engine.

    I did this a few months ago on my truck, but rather than cut a slit, I heated the PEX with a heat gun and slid it onto the post. Worked great.

    Also, order a carburetor tool for adjusting the idle jets. When you have the carburetor off the vehicle, remove the idle jet screw plugs, if they are installed.

    I would stick with the quadrajet. They are great carburetors when set up right. Get a rebuild kit and a choke thermostat.
