Same here. Wanted to keep it 100% stock, down to the emissions equipment. Broke an AIR injection tube last time I pulled the engine, so ditched that whole system. And the low compression 265hp 454 is sooo underwhelming. Decided to build a 9:1 compression 468 with 2.19/1.88 oval port heads and...

Am I crazy to think that I might be able to pull the bellhousing and clutch with the engine? Remove the slave cylinder, remove 4 bolts, and support the gearbox?

Factory cab mounts. Cabs never been off. Never felt the need to change them, since they look fine.

Big block guys, help me out here

Last time I did this I rigged the engine with a couple chains and a chain fall. This time I'm using an engine leveler. It's coming out one way or another though.

Yeah. I've been down that road before. Trying to avoid it. The SM465 is a fat bitch with anger issues.

Big block guys, help me out here

I didn't have any problem unbolting the trans, and I have plenty of height as far as hoist goes. The engine half of the motor mounts wont go higher than the frame half of the mount because the trans hits the tunnel, so I can't slide the engine forward off the input shaft. If the trans tunnel...

    Small Block Chevrolet & transmission - $2000

Most 305's were melted down to make rebar, so I guess that is pretty rare.

I'm pulling my 454 and replacing it with a freshly built 468. Trans is a SM465. Truck is a 86 C20. Last time I pulled this engine I couldn't get the engine high enough to clear the mounts without the trans hitting the transmission tunnel. I couldn't separate the engine from the tranny. Had to...

    Double hump heads worth it?

Alternator, power steering brackets, and maybe AC brackets attach to the accessory holes in the heads. The earlier camel hump heads didn't have accessory holes. Later camel humps did, so you can reuse "modern" brackets with them.

    Help With Block Casting Numbers

14015445 454 block. Could be 2 bolt, could be 4 bolt. You never know until you get in there and look. Probably has peanut port heads, if it's a mid 80's engine.
