    Personally, I set mine a bit lower. I like mine 1300-1400 at initial start up, and it climbs a couple hundred as it warms up. It's not going to affect much except fuel consumption.

    Engine speed will increase as it warms up, and yes, you need to tap the throttle to get it off high idle.

    FYI, Ospho will convert the rust to iron phosphate, which neutralizes it, but it will turn black. If you want to keep the patina, just wash and dry it, and coat it with boiled linseed oil. You will have to reapply once a year or so.

    +1 Get down there and lightly pull on the wires going to the larger terminal. if one stretches, you found your problem.

    That makes sense. Always check with engine running. There's a cold and hot level because the fluid expands when it heats up. Both levels are with the engine running, and trans in park.

    Exhaust ports are the same on oval port and rectangle port heads. Only the intake port is shaped differently.

    My local shop will charge around $1K for R&R labor alone. Overhauls are around $1K, more if hard parts are replaced.

    I usually pocket port my heads, but I left these alone. The machinist that did them used a tapered bowl cutter, it looks like they will have serious velocity on the exhaust ports. Wish I took a picture before I put them together.
