Rebuilding a set of oval ports for the 454. Getting a head and cam upgrade in the near future.

86 454 T400 out of Motorhome with 32,000 miles for $600 "SHOULD I DO IT"

781 and 049 are the sought after oval ports. Often overlooked, and underrated are 820 and 292 castings. Flow and port volumes are similar to 781 and 049, but with a smaller 113 cc combustion chamber that has an unshrouded exhaust valve.

    Let's talk oil

Has anyone here had a cam failure that they reasonably believe was related to lack of ZDDP? I've been hot rodding and wrenching since the early 90's and have only seen one cam failure. I know that the guy changed the cam, and he reused lifters, so even that cam failure wasn't oil related...

    Roller Rocker Arm Situation

Never in my life have I heard of using a solid lifter like this. I guess I've been doing it wrong for the last 25 years by just soaking the lifters in oil overnight.

    Motor Dies While Driving

How many miles since the carb was installed? Last week I had the same problem. Good idle, but stumbling off idle. Hard to accelerate. New fuel filter with about 600 miles on it. This is a quadrajet with the filter on the inlet of the carb. Pulled the fuel filter. Outside looked fine. Cut it...

    Motor Dies While Driving

If it will idle, but bogs when you try to accelerate, it's probably fuel related. Start with a new fuel filter.

    Spark plug gap

I have a six figure job, a 50K square (miles), and I too am the lawn mower. Apologies for not dropping in to the Introduction sub (I've been lurking). I just wanted to get in on this train wreck. :dogpile:
