Parts advice needed on rebuilding a 350

I like to bore .030, leaves some meat for future rebuilds. Heads and cam are going to give you more of a performance increase than an additional .030 of bore.

    700r or 4l80e?

I've used the Alto clutches on a few builds, including the 700r4 behind my 550 hp sbc. I've been happy with them. If the BW clutches are ahead of the curve, I will try them when I build the trans for the big block. Technology changes fast when you aren't paying attention.

    700r or 4l80e?

I'll work on baffling you in a year or so. My Camaro was a 550 hp small block, it's getting a 496 big block that should turn 650 hp. It will have a 700r4 behind it.

    700r or 4l80e?

Ask them if they are using Alto Red Eagle clutches and band, and Kolene steels.

    700r or 4l80e?

Well thats good to know. I guess I'll stick with PATC when I build my next trans.

    700r or 4l80e?

I haven't used their stuff before. Last trans I built was for my Dodge, and I used PATC parts.

    700r or 4l80e?

There are a few other things involved besides the trans controller. Speedometer output is electronic, not cable driven, so that has to be addressed. I think that the flex plate is different, because of different bolt pattern on torque convertor. Output shaft probably doesnt match up with your...

    700r or 4l80e?

It's around $600 for a trans controller. That same money can buy some performance parts for the 700r4. I'm likely going to go with one of these kits when I build the 700r4 that's going into my 496 powered Camaro https://www.monstertransmission.com/700R4-Rebuild-Kit_c_4320.html

    Downshifting from OD concerns me.

    700r or 4l80e?

You sure your TV cable is adjusted right? Because that will kill a 700r4.

    Installing a th400 from mid 60’s BOP w/ switch pitch in 86 C10 HELP

He said it's a fresh rebuild. I'd ask the rebuilder. They should have noticed the extra wire running all the way from the pump to the connector on the side of the case. And they would have probably had the original convertor rebuilt. I dont think the switch pitch convertors are an off the shelf...

Wow, that's really good news. I didn't know anyone was making a reproduction switch for them. That's 100% the way to go!

There was a multifuction switch that connected to the throttle linkage. Bottom right in this pic.

    Installing a th400 from mid 60’s BOP w/ switch pitch in 86 C10 HELP

Your going to need a second switch that switches "off" when carb is at idle. Same basic wiring, but you want to supply 12v to the switch pitch terminal when you are off idle.

Is that a lockup torque convertor? Nevermind, I completely overlooked the switch pitch convertor. Thats a little more complicated. BRB.

You want the terminal with the orange wire in this pic. Check out this write up, goes over the system pretty well. https://bangshift.com/general-news/bangshift-tech-how-to-repair-the-kickdown-switch-in-a-turbo-400-transmission/

    Installing a th400 from mid 60’s BOP w/ switch pitch in 86 C10 HELP

There are microswitches and brackets designed for nitrous oxide systems that would work perfectly.
