    Stumble under Acceleration

I'd check the fuel filter first. Not enough flow through the filter to keep the carb bowls full.

TBI '87 R2500 454 Suburban Runs Like Crap

No doubt. I just bought the kit, Comp Cams K11-235-3, and I'm hoping to have it back together by this weekend. (not the same cam as the TBI engine)

TBI '87 R2500 454 Suburban Runs Like Crap

Comp makes a cam for TBI 454's, part number 11-302-4. I wouldn't suggest that cam without springs though.

What have you done to your square lately??

Took a bunch of parts off the truck. Thinking about changing directions. I was going to change the cam, put the 049 heads on it, and button it up. Now I'm thinking since I have it down this far, I might as well pull the engine and change the rear main seal and oil pan gasket. Gives me easy...

What have you done to your square lately??

No, 2.06 and 1.72. Will still be a major improvement over the stock cam and peanut port heads though.

What have you done to your square lately??

Pocket ported and gasket matched a pair of 049 oval port heads. Dropped them off for guides and valve job. Comp xtreme 4x4 cam X4 262H on the bench ready for installation.

Silly Question but could I possibly have an ECU?

EFI has an ECM somewhere. Give ya tree fiddy for it.

    Issues with header install.

MIG welder does it even easier. I've done exhaust bolts, and even head bolts that were broken off below the block deck this way.

Help with 454 decision, picking up today.

You can pay a machine shop to fit 4 bolt caps on a 2 bolt block, or just spend the money and buy an aftermarket block. Personally, I wouldn't be skeered pushing a 2 bolt studded MK IV to 1k hp. Not to say there's zero risk.

Ideas for fuel mileage - underdrive pulley? electric fan?

Fix the choke first. When I bought my truck the choke was shot and the PO had "played" with the carb to get it to run somewhat. Best I would get was 8 mpg. Fixing the choke and adjusting the high idle brought me up to 12 mpg.

Help with 454 decision, picking up today.

Then get yourself a gen 5 or gen 6 block. They didn't make them in 2 bolt mains. Heads from older Mark IV big blocks can have sealing issues with them, but if your planning 600-750 hp as a starting point, your going to be running aftermarket aluminum heads anyways. Keep in mind, gen 5 had no...

Which product do you recommend for chassis

Keep your truck right side up, less UV exposure that way. :Big Laugh:

Which product do you recommend for chassis

The guys on the CJ-5 forums are fond of POR-15. It isn't cheap, but it's supposed to stop rust, and it's durable. You can brush it on, and it doesn't take any more prep than brushing off loose rust and crud.

    Let's talk oil

I'm willing to bet they are. You can change the intake seals out with a set of GM 3998265 seals to fix the oil consumption problem without machining the valve guides. They are discontinued, but there are a few NOS sets on the 'bay for around 20 bucks.
