    Headlights flickering...

Ya, good points. 70's-80's Dodges were the kings of corrosion growing way up into harness wires, Chevy's undersized. Sometimes just adding driving lights could take out squarebody switches, and on the newer chevys burn up the headlight switches and connectors. I can't remember how many relays I...

    Fuel gauge troubleshooting

Ya, I think the 6 wire solenoids switched tanks senders, where the other way the dash switch had lots of wires. But I may be wrong, been a long time, lol. I do remember the 6 wire connector being troublesome, when older.

Advice on Transmission Fluid Change for 1980 C10

If it has not been rebuilt in a long time, I would not use synthetic, but old style dex or dex/mercon. Clutch material was different. My opinion. But, we do have a resident trans guy here, he will chime in,I bet.

    Check out my rear end

Yes many had factory spring/clutch limited slip. So you have 2 problems. Might be time for new clutches in the diff. Generally, change fluid, add additive, find big parking lot, drive in circles, al lot, then see if chatter gets better. As far as driveline, are you sure is from rear? Either of...

This one needs to go, asking for opinions. Offering it up here first.

Well, street unusable and illegal, and a incomplete project. May have to cut your losses and run. BUT, selling prices are all over the map, depending on what part of the country you are in, and whether you can deliver it.

    Fuel gauge troubleshooting

I don't really know of any "output" test there. It is the load side, and, when hooked up and properly working, (the senders) may read as low as a volt or 2, as the sender "grounds" it. I suspect a wire/connection problem in the wire from the dash to the switching valve, or the switch itself, as...

Press-in rocker arm studs migrating up.

You changed geometry and probably tension. You should have went to screw in studs. BUT, in the old days, we drove them back in, drilled and pinned them with roll pins, as this could also be done on the vehicle, fairly quickly.

    Headlights flickering...

Chances are your new bulbs are halogen, and drawing more current. There is a circuit breaker built into the headlight switch, and chances are it is weak, and soon to fail. New switches are cheap. BUT, you also could have a ground problem, or bad connections.

    STEERING COLUMN

That is way overpriced. Crown, that makes all the repo Jeep parts, makes that bearing kit, as MANY jeeps used GM columns. You can get that kit off the bay or amazon for around 32 bucks, delivered.

    Ignition Switch (Tilt Column)

In reality, you are asking the switch to do something it was never designed to do. The full tilt up was only to get in and out of the vehicle. Later ones were better about this. Picked up a tilt column for plow truck from nephew, was a mess, rebuilt it. So I checked, yes will work all the way...

Thoughts on how to recover from a slightly cross threaded spark plug threads in head?

You should be able to do it with a rethreader. However, there were made for years, rethreaders that expanded. You push them in, expand it, then back it out. You see, it starts down in the good threads and backs out, cleaning/cutting the threads. I would bet now only old time mechanics and...

    First time "real" painting.

Just going to warn people, be sure you only have friends around, no "bad" neighbors,or in an area where you have a hairbag "greenie" neighbor that might smell the fumes. Most paints, especially urethane's, are required to be sprayed in a booth that recycles and filters the air before releasing...

    1999 454 carb swap. best street carb, 600? 650? 750? CFM

What are your complaints? Anyway, best to stick with a square bore carb, adapters suck, generally. Bigest problems with slappin a carb on a FI engine is, they tend to run too rich, and re-calibration is necessary, lots of times. I used to be a wiz at Q-Jets, even set them up for racers, back in...

    Fuel return diy

First, are you sure it's vapor lock? Try running it without the gas cap. I doubt the filter/return will help. How do I know? Because I have a 401 jeep J10, used to haul a camper in it. But, even without the camper, still can do it..did about 2 months ago, hauling wood pellets home. This has the...

    Fuel cell to stock gauge

Yes. As long as you get the proper sender. Generally fuel cells come with a universal sender, which may not be the right ohms.

    Vacuum Spark Control

I see no reason to "put it back to stock", and with today's fuel you may be upset with the performance. Heck, back in the day we were bypassing them on fairly new trucks.

    Passenger side axle stuck

Why did you have to replace the axle before? Not checking and installing the wrong part is not the parts store fault, only the selling of the wrong part. Possible axle was not hardened on the splines. Regardless, the axle gear probably needs replaced, and the diff cleaned out, from all the...

Pioneer PIO-100 Flywheel to LMC Truck clutch kit 32-6828 what diameter/length dowel pins should I get?

Don't see how the missing pins can cause your problem. GM uses special shoulder bolts for the pressure plate for locating, the pins are just for assembly. Most common problems of "clutch rattle-- Loose dampener springs in the disc Worn/missing pilot bushing Worn trans input bearing.

    aux trans cooler question

Old style, cheaper cooler. Ya, a fitting is available, but is it better?? As the hose goes over the flare, is acceptable, many thousands were done that way. Ya, aluminum corrodes. If the tubes themselves are pitting, replace or remove it. Might consider replacing those hoses if they seem old, if...
