    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Ok...so I think I have everything put back together correctly and it spins by hand (it is a little stiff though?)...I checked the shaft movement with a known thickness washer and a mark on the shaft, probably could have just bought the indicator with the amount of time it took me to rig up...

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

I didn't replace any of the parts and I actually left out two thin selectives just because everything was new and I wanted to make sure I started from a baseline.. Going back to the dual feed, I'm going to try it (and your right, it looks like it's 50/50 from the posts I see of it working on...

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

I think you nailed it...I pulled everything off down to the sun shell and it spun like clockwork, then I looked at the planetary and it was slightly cocked, stuck in the drum... I didn't get the clutches all the way settled.. I pulled it apart, sttled everything back down and think it good but...

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Your probably right given that when I went through a dry run the end play was, ahem, correct... I didn't measure but the value I have is .010-.044"? I've put in many a molding and I know what 1/32 (.030ish) of an inch looks like so I just shot for that

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Ok...so I got everything put back together and when i test fitted everything for endplay all went well...everything moved freely and all was good.. When I put all the clutches, pump rings and oring in the pump doesn't seem to fully seat- but will bolt down and everything is extremely tight and...

Thanks Matt! Yeah.... I thought about it conceptually for a minute and realized exactly what they were they to do and it all made sense...

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Is there any kind of cutaway diagram of the lip seals? I've seen a lot of videos, and read a lot, but I think this is a case where a picture would be worth a thousand words in where/how they are supposed to seal. Hang on...I think I got it....your basically making sure the outer seal doesn't...

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Ok...it's coming along...I think.... I have the bushings back in the stator and tested it on the shaft and it turns but not very freely...is there any level of tolerance to it or do I need to pull it off and adjust the drive on the bushings?

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

That's why accountants shouldn't design cars! I like the idea of a metal bushing too... I will order one I order an additional 2 sun bushings a couple days back too..someone should make a legit bushing pack instead of just throwing the stock ones out there!

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Ok...so I went to replace the output shaft bushing and nothing there....there is a plastic bushing that looks like it fits right in there? The shaft assembly has some "slop" to it, is it supposed to or is it supposed to be solid?

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Agreed! I tried to order the Hughes sprag race from a few different places but they were out of stock...the place I ordered from seemed reputable but I have tried emailing them 3 times now to verify they indeed sent out a hardened sprag race with no reply...not really wanting to take a...

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Well I've got it apart, except I need to make the tool to remove the low piston, and it does have the aluminum pistons...it reeks like burnt transmission fluid BTW... It looks like it had been recently rebuilt as the frictions didn't look too worn but like I found an e clip loose on top of the...

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Thanks for this! So I think the kit I'm getting has the wider bushing.. I did see a youtube video of the guy driving in that bushing and he went juuuust a little too far with it but caught himself before having to do gymnastics on it! I'm not really wanting the chirp shifting so will keep some...

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Much appreciated gents! The rebuild kit is supposed to show up on Monday... I do plan on going the dual feed route, 5 clutches, drill the holes and I ordered a hardened intermediate sprag as well...seemed like those mods would serve the trans well for not a whole lotta $$?!

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Hey All! I'm going to take the plunge and rebuild my TH350 that's in the truck...and while I have that out might as well do the transfer case...and while that's out might as well replace all the u-joints, haha.. I've rebuilt a transfer case before but never a transmission and it looks...

    Rebuilt $350 long block questions

Quick update... The credit card company credited my card back pending any response from the merchant... a friend who used to work for a dealership said what they did was so far outside any known industry standard they probably won't respond... I was thinking again today, I put down a $1000...

TH350C been sitting a few years

Know that drill...went in the Marines at 17 to get away from some shit...Gulf war ended 3 days before I left bootcamp and I ended up in Hawaii in an anti-terrorism detachment responsible for securing compounds and "special" weapon security... nobody really knew what terrorism really meant in...

I guess OJ got wind of that and prompted him to make a run for it in his own Bronco eh? haha

TH350C been sitting a few years

Hmmm.....you are probably correct that there was an ever so slight design change somewhere in the woodpile that will work on some and not on others...either that or the people who say you CAN dual feed it have no idea their converter never locked up, haha!

TH350C been sitting a few years

I was googling around to see if anyone had any success on being able to dual feed a 350c and ran across this post on another forum: The 350c can be dual fed but not thru the transfer plate as is done with a standard 350 because the auxilary valve body is in its place. Plug reverse passage in...

TH350C been sitting a few years

So taking off about 1/8th of an inch? It's a cast aluminum part so I should be able to set up a jig and a carbide tip router would make short work of it I would think? Also, makes perfect sense on the TC...it's probably like the washing machine when it gets out of balance and starts banging...

TH350C been sitting a few years

Another question, what is the best way to have the piston cut down for 5 clutches...someone said a brake lathe but if I show up at a brake shop and ask them to cut down the piston are they going to know what I'm even talking about?!

TH350C been sitting a few years

Thanks again for the info! I think my transmission is going full on mission creep status...while the engine is out might as well go through tranny, while doing that might as well rebuild, while doing that might as well do a couple of the common performance upgrades, etc.. Been doing a bit of...

TH350C been sitting a few years

I actually just got pinged there was a new reply to this thread (I didn't get any previously)...no hi jack at all because I was reading the replies and thinking yeah, it probably makes sense at this point to rebuild the trans while the engine is out (I have a couple of issues there I need to...
