What did you pay for a square

There's a seller near me that has a rough looking mix-master '71 C10 lwb. There's writing on the windshield that says "Highest offer 12k." (I have a feeling he made this up in an effort to force someone to pay 13k). If I got offered 12k for that rough specimen, I'd take it and run like a bandit.

    ok, now THAT was scary!

I bought a '84 K1500 a while back that sat for several years, I finally got it to start and run, and drove down an empty road. The rotten brake line on one of the front wheels ended up rupturing, luckily I wasn't far from home and not moving very fast. I now carefully examine rubber brake lines...

What did you pay for a square

As stupid as it may sound, I think c20s are often marginally cheaper than C10s, because people associate the C10 with being a better platform to modify. This is ironic, since the C20 has beefier drive train components that actually fare much better in performance applications. The C20 is also...

    Throttle cable bracket

If the the truck was a 305 originally, everything should be essentially the same. If it was a 6 cylinder or diesel of some sort, it probably won't be too much different and can probably be modified to work. If not, there are plenty of adjustable and custom throttle brackets you can rig up to work.

What did you pay for a square

Assuming that paint is original, that's a bargain in that condition.

    Cab and bed gap

They'd probably clear, but having off-center wheels is as annoying as having the bed gap.

    Cab and bed gap

The best to do it is to just remove the rear spring hangers and reinstall them a little closer to the cab. You may or may not have to adjust brake lines and drives haft length afterward. Here is a thread about doing it. It's involves Fords, but the premise is the same on any truck...

    Color match for blue interior

The hard plastics like door panels should be fine, the soft bits like the dash pad could be a little more challenging. knowing GM being the oddball that it is, it's entirely possible that they offered two different shades of blue in the same year, and used the same codes for both. Either that...

    81-87 Front Clip on a 73

I knew a guy that converted many round eye trucks to the 89-91 RV style front (Seemed like a step backwards to me, but his customers liked it). While the stripped cabs and frames are essentially the same (or close enough), every little part involving the front clip between 73-80 and 81+ is...

    Color match for blue interior

Colorbond has a pretty broad line up of different colors. Look at Ford and Mopar colors too. They may not be official GM colors, but there is bound to be at least one shade of blue that is close or exactly like yours. I remember one thread where a guy had to use a BMW interior color to match the...

I bought a 1984 and don’t know what to do???

The carburetor vs TBI debate has been going on since TBI was introduced. A properly tuned Q jet that's optimized for the engine it sits on will provide plenty of power and relatively good mpg. With an electric choke, start up is pretty straightforward, albeit still not as refined as TBI...

    Brake Pedal Slow to return

Check your rear drum cylinders for leakage, also look at your various rubber and metal lines for leaks. If there are no leaks present, it's likely a master cylinder issue. The proportion valve could also be a factor, since it can restrict flow during the bleeding process but I really encounter...

I bought a 1984 and don’t know what to do???

It looks like a solid start. All I'd do with it is put headlight bezels on, get it running good, fix any leaks, and make sure the AC blows cold. If you can achieve everything I just listed, you already have a better square body than a lot of people. As for engine swaps, I'd keep that 305...

Who’s lookin for a Squarebody shaggin wagon?

The Nissan Frontier was the last of it's kind. The Jeep Gladiator almost fills the void, but the 4.5 foot bed leaves is less than optimal and it isn't exactly an affordable vehicle. The old Scrambler had a similar issue, but it made up for it by having a unibody set up and the potential to be...

Ford F-350 Custom Rear Bench into ‘84 Chevy K20 Square?

As long as it fits in the cab, there's no reason you couldn't use it. Just weld the GM brackets onto the Ford frame and call it a day. Since the seat slides and folds, make sure it still has room to do so in the GM truck, before you chop the brackets off.

Who’s lookin for a Squarebody shaggin wagon?

For the price and condition, I could look past the underwhelming 4.3. This could be a good candidate for a 4x4 swap, if you wanted to invest in the parts and fab work. Lots of these G vans have been made into neat offroad R.Vs after a 4x4 conversion.

    Suburban door panel 1976

Finding a dead ringer for your color could be difficult, though you could always just purchase a black one and dye it to match the rest of the interior. Colorbond and other dye companies have a pretty good selection of OE colors.

    Any Green Squares?

Very nice. I love the look of 75/76 grille too.

What year front clip do you like best?

I've always wondered what a square Escalade would've looked like. I'd imagine something similar to those renderings, with a more elaborate interior.

Anyone Use Classic Industries Dash Pad

It's been seven years, and lots of sunlight exposure. The dash still has not hardened or cracked. Colorbond supposedly contains UV protectant. In my case, it works. If you can find a dash in a color you like, get that one. In my case, I wanted a color that didn't exist on a dashpad, so I just...

Anyone Use Classic Industries Dash Pad

I used Colorbond aerosol in Saddle tan on my dashpad. The reason why yours is brown and not tan is because GM never had a saddle tan dash pad from the factory for these trucks. Instead they just paired brown dashes with Saddle tan interior trim. A brown dash pad is actually factory correct for a...

Anyone Use Classic Industries Dash Pad

Thanks, this is actually a picture of the inside of a '85 C10, my '84 looks much different. However, these same colors do appear on '84 trucks. Here's the outside of the truck and the paint codes for it:

Anyone Use Classic Industries Dash Pad

Here's a pic of my '81+ vinyl pad from LMC that I got back in 2016. Please disregard the faded door panels and mismatched instrument bezel lol.

What year front clip do you like best?

the square headlight '80 front with bezels tweaked to mimic the shape of the 73-78 bezels would probably give you the look you want.

    Bvllsh!t on craigslist.

Indeed, those axle assemblies alone would justify it.
