    Leak in cab

It would probably be good just to remove the windshield, fix any rust damage and get new rubber. After many years the original is super brittle and has probably developed several micro cracks.

    Ford Trash Talk Thread lol

I've noticed this with smaller fwd passenger cars. They are assembled in a way that of which repairs are difficult. Full size pickups are a little more repair friendly, but fuel delivery systems are increasingly complex ever since the industry started straying away from TBI and switching to...

I'm sure many ecoboost Mustang owners have also suffered from their car suddenly becoming immobile lol. To be fair, GM issued a warning a about one of their fully electric cars, in regards to it's battery randomly exploding recently. Instead of issuing a recall immediately, they simply advised...

    Ford Trash Talk Thread lol

My cousin bought him a used low miles 2017 F150 with the good ole 2.7 "eco-boom" in it. He only had the truck on the road a few weeks before having to return it to the dealer for warranty work. My cousin may have been foolish enough to buy a used eco-boost, but at least he was smart enough to...

    1982 Chevrolet C10 headlights help

My 84 GMC K1500 did this the other day. Coincidencidentally the starter went out shortly after. I noticed a thick blue wire on the starter solenoid was heavily frayed and hanging by a thread. I put a new ring connector on it, and now all my lights are back. I don't understand why this happened...

    Dump Bed Question

I suppose, a PTO driven system might be a little over-kill for a 1 ton truck.

    Dump Bed Question

If your crew cab has a SM465 transmission, you can install a PTO and put a hydraulic lift on it. That is how the bigger trucks such as a Kodiak or Topkick are set up.

After a quick search, it looks like the Freightliner FL70 was offered with a 12 valve Cummins too. However, medium duty Fords share a lot of the same parts as the 80-96 light duty pickups, so parts are far more cheap and abundant than the Freightliner. I've gone through 4 different door handles...

    Ford Trash Talk Thread lol

The one good thing I can say about Ford, is that from 92 to 99, they were the only medium duty you could get a 12 valve Cummins in. The Kodiaks and Topkicks of the day had Caterpillars of different flavors. For gas engines though, GM still had an edge. I've also had good luck with Ford/New...

What are these devices mounted to the firewall?

I looked today, and the my '84 K1500 is set up the same way that my '85 C10 in the first post was. The C10 was a factory th350 and the GMC was a factory 700r4.

What are these devices mounted to the firewall?

My 84 K1500 was originally a 700r4 truck (it was converted to a SM465 at some point) I'll take a look tomorrow and see how it's set up.

Thanks for the explanation of the lockup system @Turbo4whl

What are these devices mounted to the firewall?

Makes sense. I suppose on a truck that's had its ESC deactivated and/or it's transmission swapped, you could omit these and just plug the vacuum ports that the lines originate from.

What are these devices mounted to the firewall?

The truck pictured in my first post is an '85 C10. Perhaps it originally had a TH350c that got swapped for a regular th350? The VIN says it started life as th350 truck. And the shift indicator on the collum is for a 350 as well. I honestly have no idea how overdrive systems work on these trucks...

What are these devices mounted to the firewall?

So on a TH350/400 it does nothing? I've seen these on both TH350/400 and 700r4 equipped trucks.

I've messed with squares for years now, but I have never had a reason to mess with these things. They look like solenoids with vacuum lines attached. I still don't know what they are called or what their actual purpose is. I'm throwing in towel and asking you fine people. Thanks.

100 Square Bodies being auctioned off Sat June 25th Online.

Being curator of a square body museum would be fun, as long as you got to drive them from time to time.

100 Square Bodies being auctioned off Sat June 25th Online.

This may be the only time anyone sees that many Gentleman Jims in one place. The Casa Grande is a rare sight in itself. I'm honestly curious to see what the more common, run of the mill trucks go for. Special editions and rare variations are always fetching high prices, but the selling price of...

    700R4 nightmares

You don't need 1 ton axles for low gears, though they do have much stronger internals. My Jeep has them crammed into the factory Dana 30 front and AMC 20 rear. With that being said, there are plenty of low geared 1/2 tons and smaller SUVs that survive just fine with their factory axles. Unless...

    700R4 nightmares

I have a Jeep with 35 inch wheels, and a 4:56 rear end. It is plenty powerful, though it is equipped with a 4 speed manual, so RPMS remain at a constant high. If you go that low of gear, I recommend at least a five speed transmission.

    Frame Rivet Replacement

How were the factory rivets installed? Was there some sort of hydraulic press jig? I have seen people set rivets pretty well with an air hammer, but I assume a car plant would have something a little more advanced. I'm sure quality grade 8 hardware will hold just as good or better as factory...

    Q jet loses prime.

I toyed with the idle/air adjustment, and now it seems to fire right up everytime. I think it was too lean the entire time. The idle seems kind of high now, but that might just be the nature of the beast.

The lack of emblems and moldings is evidence of a repaint. Beware of excessive use of fiberglass and hidden rust/rot underneath.

    700R4 nightmares

If you go the NV4500 route, it will be easier If you get one out of a GM truck it will pretty much be a bolt on affair for either a small block or an LS (transfer case will likely need an adapter though). A Dodge one can be adapted to fit too though. You will also likely need new drive shafts...
