    Ls Swap Checklist

If you get a complete driveline out of a 4x4 truck, make sure it's a floor lever transfer case and not a push button style. This is irrelevant if you just adapt the 205 you already have to it though.

    Holy Grail of Squarebodys

I think Cummins swaps are universally accepted by many because of the massive aftermarket support. Cummins also is not really exclusive to any of the big three, it merely supplies engines via contract. People often erroneously claim that Ford owns them. This is not true. It has never been true...

    Interesting.

    Holy Grail of Squarebodys

That's a very clean interior. I was asking about the collumn, because I've never seen a tilt collumn in a factory manual equipped square.

    Holy Grail of Squarebodys

My 84 has that same Mahagony interior. Thankfully, USA1 seems to have pieces in that color, so its not too hard to freshen it up. Does your truck have tilt steering?

    Ls Swap Checklist

You may have to to change the oil pan, depending on the the clearance you get. In regards to the fan, the 6.0 LS has a mechanical fan like your current 454, an electric fan would have to be added after-market.

    Holy Grail of Squarebodys

For me it's long wheel base step side 4x4s. Long wheel base step sides are uncommon, 4x4 variations of them are even more so. Crew cab 4x4s are also quite rare and deserve a the attention they get.

    Window Felt Replacement

It's also worth checking the rollers on the regulator and the tracks they ride in on the door shell, they can bind when they get too filthy. My '84 K1500 had a very sluggish window on the passenger side. I took the regulator out and found that the plastic rollers were frozen solid. I broke them...

Maybe you could just take the glass out and get it powder coated.

    c10/c60 compatibility

Most square body medium trucks I see typically mimic a light duty custom deluxe of the same time period. There's no reason one couldn't be upgraded to Cheyenne or Silverado style features, in fact it has been done on many custom builds. In regards to instrument clusters, you could make a...

    Window Felt Replacement

This is correct. there is a bumper in the bottom of the door shell that the window rests on in the fully open position. The motor shouldn't stop going upward until it either goes through all the teeth on the regulator or the the glass hits the top of the door shell.

    Can we be honest people?

I'm honestly indifferent towards the headlights on the GMT-800. The early round eye trucks look marginally better, but the cat eyes kind of grew on me. Does anyone know why GM killed the K2 (2014-2018) trucks so quickly? It's technically still in production as a medium duty truck, but as a...

    8.1 vortec into 1979 k30

The 8.1 is still a powerhouse, even if it doesn't share much of anything with the smaller LS based stuff. The swap shouldn't be too hard though, since you have compatibility with most GM transmission and other drivetrain components.

    Custom Hood Ornaments

I'd suggest basing your design around the OEM style hood ornament base mounting hole location, that way if you regret your decision you can easily hide your modification. Invest in a 3D printer and and a plating kit (If you use the right kind of plastic, it can be plated easily.) if you really...

    c10/c60 compatibility

The only things that are really different on the medium duty cabs is the hump in the floor and firewall, and the instrument cluster and bezel, depending on the feature set of the truck in question. The dash pad should be exactly the same as a light truck of the same time period.

2 barrel carb - barking up the wrong tree?

It's worth noting that a lot of timing issues get blamed on carburetors. It's also worth noting that most of these hated Qjets are typically the result of poorly done rebuilds, or using the wrong variation on of Q jet for a particular application. I'll also kick the hornet nest and say that the...

    Adding A/C

When you install the LMC system, please keep us updated on how much you like it. It would be cool if you posted pics of it installed too.

    Adding A/C

Replacing the old R4 compressor with a Sanden 508, and adjusting the low pressure switch is an easy way to convert to R134a while retaining almost all the factory components, even the OEM hoses can be reused with the right adapter. There's some good threads here that discuss this subject further.

    Can we be honest people?

Some looked better than others, depending on the grille used. The 03-05 "cat eyes" looked a little better than 05 and 06 trucks. With that being said the ugliest GMT800 is still better looking than the prettiest GMT900. The GMT900 makes a Ford look pretty.

    Can we be honest people?

Thanks @Keith Seymore That's a pretty interesting career. I suppose we can give you some credit for giving us the neat "cat eye" look on later GMT800s.

    Can we be honest people?

How much involvement did you have in the development of the GMT400 and GMT800?

    Adding A/C

Vintage air systems work, but I recommend an OEM style system used with a Sanden 508 compressor. Get the HVAC box, controls, ductwork, and dash bezels out of a donor truck or find these pieces at other sources. Things like the compressor, condenser and evaporator core should be purchased new...

    cheap-ish options for my 86

Looks like you lucked out on the engine. Most 1/2 tons I find have the 305. Since you already have the 350 to start with, perhaps you could look into Vortec heads and play around with different intake and carb combos.

    Adding a Suburban Gas tank

I've seen this done before. One guy I saw do it put the the filler neck for the suburban tank behind the driver side tail light and used magnets and a hidden hinge to disguise it as a regular tail light. I don't remember how he plumbed it though. Since you are thinking of an engine swap anyway...
