What's the going price on a good 305 engine these days ?

It's fun to pick on the 305, but it still serves its purpose and is reliable as any other Chevy small block. Just don't expect to win too many drag races or tow a massive trailer at a decent speed.

What's the going price on a good 305 engine these days ?

I sent a rusted out suburban that I robbed a transmission and body panels from to the scrap yard three years ago. It still had a running 305 in it when I sent it off. I tried giving it away, but no one wanted it except for the meth-billys that only wanted it for the $20 in drug money they would...

86 gmc C1500 Blower motor won’t turn on?

Edit: misread post. I'd suggest removing the HVAC switch from your dash, and tracing the wires. I once had a bullnose Ford pickup that had this same problem. It ended up being the ignition switch on the steering column. On many vehicles, most of the key-on devices power (such as the blower...

    What do I have...Dana 44 or GM 10 Bolt

Everything from the knuckle outward should be interchangeable, IIRC.

    What do I have...Dana 44 or GM 10 Bolt

Looks like a GM 10 bolt to me. Clean it up and look for casting marks, just to be sure though.

You're welcome to send the Ford to me to try make her happier.

C10 lifted 4.5” max tire size

I honestly did not know there was such a thing. I've seen 2wd GMT-400 and newer trucks lifted plenty of times, so I know parts exist for them. Aside from OP's truck, a lifted 2wd square is not something I've ever seen in much detail. The truck looks proportional right now, though I'd find out...

    Holley sniper install questions

Make sure your exhaust has provisions for an 02 sensor. The Sniper system isn't particularly complicated, just don't half-ass it. If you do the install correctly, you'll love it. If you make a mess of this install, you'll miss your Q-jet dearly.

    What do I call it?

Its also worth noting that Ford used to sell virgin replacement cabs for 80-96 F Series trucks that had been rolled or suffered severe rust damage. Salvage companies like Vanderhaags also sell stripped cabs that have been taken off of parted-out trucks (They all have VIN tags, but no titles. I...

    What do I call it?

How would they know though? Does your insurance agent personally visit your house and examine every component on your truck? Would said insurance agent even know the difference between the letters "C" and "K"?

    What do I call it?

Unless the everyone at the court house is a square body aficionado and is looking at the truck, the truck will be whatever the VIN on the cab, and corresponding title says it is. Unless you're running some sort of criminal chop shop, no one is really going to bother to investigate.

    What do I call it?

Pretty much this. There are some places that bitch about frame numbers, but the fat lady at the court house desk isn't about to crawl under your truck, so legally and realistically your truck is a '79 GMC C1500.

    Hydroboost worth it?

Unless you have a diesel, or a super high-performance gasser (Even in these cases, an external vacuum pump can solve most issues with a vacuum booster setup), I really don't see how hydroboost is going to matter much. My 2500 with the hydroboost system has never given me an issue, but it is not...

    2001 EZ-GO Workhorse ST350 Problems

Thankfully, I still have my old Fuji built carb and fuel pump. I've been burned by Chinese trash too many times to even consider tossing my Japanese built parts (I've learned this lesson with ATVs too). The engine is a 4 stroke thats fed by a Diaphram fuel pump. The carb does indeed have an...

    2001 EZ-GO Workhorse ST350 Problems

I have been doing a slow restoration on a well-used Workhorse with a Robin 350. I put the rebuilt engine back in, but it runs horribly. It spits and sputters, and occasionally back-fires. It does not even move the cart without assistance. I have pulled the plugs out (Brand new NGK) and they are...

What's the midway point between long bed and short bed?

I'd like to see that parked next to one of the chassis cab trucks wearing a stretched fleet side bed.

What's the midway point between long bed and short bed?

A crew cab dually and and a crew cab lwb have the same bed length and wheel base length. There are some chassis cab duallys that have longer wheel bases, but they never came with fleet side beds from the factory. I have always thought the 7 foot beds that resulted from converting a regular cab...

Poll: What '70s/'80s pickup would you own if a GM square wasn't an option?

I severely underestimated the popularity of IHC pickups on this website. It's a shame IHC didn't try to extend the life of their light truck production by implementing some of their smaller diesels into them. A 3/4 or 1 ton truck with a DT360 from the factory would've been a game-changer if it...

    Here from the UK!

I'd wager an alarming amount of people have been scammed at junkyards and bought engines without looking at the cast numbers. There are also a lot of folks that simply bought 305s because they were cheaper than the more desirable small blocks. I got lucky once and had a '85 C10 that left the...

    Here from the UK!

The only way to know for sure is to look at the cast number on the block. Don't ever trust the VIN, many of these trucks have had engine swaps at one point or another. Dipstick location is also misleading, because different variations of various small block don't consistently have them in the...
