Genuine Leather Upholstery for a great price

USA1 has some pretty nice seat kits too. The seller the OP posted did seem too good to be true. Oh well.

Piece of _____ Liars on Craigslist!

The price alone is a red flag, unless the seller is in a desperate bind for cash. Most of these sellers just take low quality pics from a distance, attack the frame with krylon, put an attractive price up and wait for the next sucker to stumble up. There's plenty that'll gladly pay that price...

    What is this device?

Guard the whole fleet with a Saiga or VEPR.

    What is this device?

Many 1st gen Ford Super Duty owners beg to differ. The average crackhead jacking cars at knifepoint may struggle with a third pedal, but anyone mechanically inclined enough to start a vehicle without a key, isn't going to be deterred by a marginally more difficult driving experience.

    2wd fuse panel in 4wd

I assume they'd be the same, though there is a quite a bit of difference between the fuse panel on my '84 K1500 and '85 C10. I haven't looked at enough round eye squares to know if they'd be any different. With that said, if you're rewiring everything, you can use any fuse panel you want as long...

    6 lug conversion

I think that's a solid idea. I'd check what gear ratio you have now though before I'd mess with the differentials. Now is the best time to change gears, if the current ratio doesn't suit your needs. Stock 14 bolt axles shafts are pretty rigid, but if you're really concerned, you can go ahead and...

    6 lug conversion

I've always found "sleepers" entertaining. I thought about building one out of an '85 C10. There's a '70 C10 known as "Farm Truck" that's pretty entertaining to watch. It appeared on a few Street Outlaw episodes.

    6 lug conversion

Dang, that's loads so heavy you've almost achieved a Carolina squat! It's nice to see the old workhorse still hauling. I do agree that factory brakes on 3/4 and 1 tons are pretty powerful and trying to upgrade them is like wearing a belt with suspenders. Like others said, maybe there's a reason...

    6 lug conversion

There's been plenty of people put K20/30 axles under a K10, I guess there's no reason it can't be done the other way around. A C10 or C20 would be a simpler platform to work with for a dedicated drag strip piece, but there's no reason a 4x4 couldn't used though. I've seen a lot of put 2wd front...

    Feels like going home

That truck is in stunningly good condition. You've done well. Good luck diagnosing the cruise control. It could be something as simple as a vacuum leak.

    6 lug conversion

What front axle do you have? If it's a D44, you can swap the outer pieces from a 10 bolt or another 44 to go from 8 to 6 or vice versa. I have a 6 lug 10 bolt that im interested in converting to an 8, if you wish to participate in some parts trading with me. Honestly though, I'd suggest keeping...

    1977 C20 4L80E swap

For a 4L80E to go behind a 454 and actually shift, you'll need to either do a manual valve body conversion (This effectively turns your automatic transmission into a full time semi-automatic transmission) or you can install a stand-alone shift module and retrofit a throttle position sensor to...

    question on 85 C10

If you go the LED route, make sure you put resistors behind them, if they aren't included in the retro-fit kit. Older 12 volt systems don't take kindly to full power LEDs.

    question on 85 C10

From the factory it should be low beams on top, though you can invert the harnesses and lights to make the bottoms the low beams (I don't know why anyone would actually want to do that though). Also be mindful of the difference between top and bottom. The light itself is the same size, but the...

    Need steering column part

Check any late '70s to to early '80s GM or AMC car in the junk yard. Those column housings appeared on A LOT of cars. Finding one should be easy if your local places have cars that old.

    What do I call it?

Whatever the majority of it is, is what I'd call it. You can put K20 emblems and badges on it and refer to it a "K20 clone build." This is actually pretty common practice in the muscle car world. For example someone may do an engine swap, change a few body panels, and add emblems and graphics to...

    SR's 1992 Dakota

I've always considered the back seat on extended cab trucks of all varieties to be tool storage. My dad had a Ford with the "Super cab" once. As a small child, I didn't mind it, but as an adult I now realize how cramped they really are.

    SR's 1992 Dakota

The 1st gen Dakotas are very underrated and well-built. Those old Mopar engines will run forever too. The early to mid '90s is peak Mopar for trucks IMO.

My mistake, I must have been thinking of the Dana 60.

    What do I have...Dana 44 or GM 10 Bolt

The brake rotors and calipers are larger on the HD as well.

    What do I have...Dana 44 or GM 10 Bolt

That should do it. I've seen stock D30s survive plenty of abuse before snapping, and those are considered "weak" by many. A D44 with upgrades will probably outlast the truck it's under.
  24. CheemsK1500

    What do I have...Dana 44 or GM 10 Bolt

I've only seen one D44 break under normal use and that was on a 2nd gen Dodge Ram truck with a CAD system.

What's the going price on a good 305 engine these days ?

I like to tell Ford guys that I my GMC has a 5.0 in it too. I'm technically not lying... I think what kills the desirability of a 305 is the availability of 350 SBCs, 5.7 Vortecs and various LS options. There is just too many other relatively inexpensive engines in circulation for most people...
