    Computer Control Quadrajet rebuild

My error using the computer control to describe my 85 carburetor Rick. Again thanks for the clear easy to understand information. My carburetor is similar to the one Chris has. Also good to know about the pump shot. I've read a number of different things to do with this.

    Computer Control Quadrajet rebuild

Rick, I appreciated your detailed suggestions. After some research I was very confused. Come to find out the carburetor on my truck is not stock. It's the correct year but for a manual not automatic. Also its not an E4MD type. I'll finish the carburetor rebuild tomorrow but won't have the...

    Computer Control Quadrajet rebuild

Matt, I did in fact order a CCC kit from Cliff's. Should be here this weekend. :) Just removed the pieces after soaking overnight in 50-50 water pine-sol. Very clean and looks nice. Thanks for the tips everyone much appreciated! I am NOT an expert. Chad, if it fails to function correctly I...

    Computer Control Quadrajet rebuild

My new to me 1985 ran poorly but did run. I've removed the heads and started the Quadrajet rebuild. Just pulled to top off to find...... All 13 top plate screws were finger tight. It appears the pull-off man shaft was not through the choke lever hole inside the main body. In the pictures...

    intermittent stall

Second what Brian said about the glass fuel filter. John, it's a Quadrajet CC carburetor I'm assuming. If so the fuel bowl is small and can heat up. A non metallic spacer between the carburetor and intake could help. GM made a heat shield that fit our trucks. Both could be had for < $100.

    Need a bit more oomph...

Rusty says: "hold my beer here comes the N2O!" These threads are helpful reading peoples part choices and the factual experiences they encountered. Vortec heads have become expensive and must be closely screened for cracks but can provide exactly the power and torque our trucks need.

15X6 Rally Wheel or cheap steel wheel option?

Yes, long bed half ton. In the morning I'll provide pictures of the wheel hole damage and galling as well as the galling on the tapered lug nuts.

15X6 Rally Wheel or cheap steel wheel option?

Just found out my 85 long bed has non-center locating steel rims. I need four wheels and new tires. Used steel wheels are hard to find in my area. New ones are $$$$. Is there an alternative used steel wheel that dog dish hubcaps fit? Local junk yard has a set of 15X6 or 6.5 Rally Wheels under...

    THM350C alternatives or keep it?

Nick, I read much of what you had to share in the sticky area. Thanks for your useful answer, much appreciated. Will follow your suggestions. "1. Sonnax HD intermediate outer sprag race 2. 4L60E center support (drops right in, no mods needed) 3. Sonnax boost valve - replaces worn out factory...

    THM350C alternatives or keep it?

Recently bought an 85 long bed thinking it had a 700R4 with top two gears out. Turns out its a THM350C a lock-up type with two working gears. I was unaware there was a Lock-Up THM350C. What are your thoughts on this transmission? Should I have it rebuilt or go with a standard TH350 if that's...

    Quadrajet Air Fuel Ratio

Those vortec 906 heads the intake and SUM-1103 cam is a smart move. Great all around HP improvement using reliable components for not a lot of money. The one inch riser is something you will have to play around with. It would be my guess with a medium cam it could help? Once it's dialed in...

    Header / exhaust pairing

Is your 350 stock or near stock? I'm about to order Flowtech Headers 11500FLT for my modified 1985 305. After viewing some YouTube videos it seems the Flowtech are a good fit for your truck. 2-1/4 dual exhaust would be fine with a stock 350. Many folks want three inch exhaust but from what I've...

    Chevy 305 heads

As I understand it most came from trucks. Jim makes an important point. Many of those heads have developed cracks. I bought from a trusted automotive cylinder head machine shop to ensure no cracks or other issues.

    Chevy 305 heads

Travis, I'm in exactly the same situation you are now. 305 engine is bit over 200K and the heads badly need rebuilt. I got a pair of rebuilt Vortec heads. 520 and 059 Vortec castings flow amazing with small chambers that match 3.8 bore. Flowtech aluminum heads fit four inch bore with 64cc...

    Hooker small block manifolds

Alexander, those exhaust manifolds look great! Your pictures are useful for anyone considering them. Will they fit with a full size starter or is the smaller type a better choice? I'd consider them myself but unfortunately they are not made for a 1985 SBC C10.

1985 Custom Deluxe non-rally steel wheel

Recently bought a 1985 C10 Custom Deluxe long bed work truck with steel wheels and dog dish caps. I'm assuming these were stock in 85? I like the simple wheel with dog dish caps very much and may do without the trim ring too. I plan to repaint the wheels and clean the hubcaps and upgrade to a...

    What Engine Do I Have

If you pull a valve cover you can find the casting number fairly easy. The reason mention it is 906 vortecs heads flow amazing. With those heads and a mild cam you have some serious torque and HP.

    1981? 350 in a C20 - Vacuum/sensor questions

Rick nailed it. This is more or less how my 1985 305 is plumbed now and it runs well. Important, run a new distributor vacuum advance hose directly to the intake manifold port behind your carburetor. OEM setup ran that hose through an number of sensors and branched out God only knows how many...

    Engine sags

Nice looking rig! Check if the tanks are properly vented. My 85 dual tank has the vent going to the charcoal canister.
