    Great reply, I'm an audio guy and paint plastic all the time. The main part here in AZ is the degreaser. With our heat the plastic off gasses bad, so proper cleaning and cleaning and cleaning is a must.

    I had that problem on my 67 Elcamino. I ran a separate ground from the kick panel to the motor and that fixed it. After that i just moved it to go with all the other wiring through the door boot.

    Battery negative ground question..... again, sorry !

    Also make sure to wire brush the surface of the frame where the bolt goes through for a good connection and I usually respray over the bolt and connector to protect the metal from rust after.

    Door Speaker Depth Clearance

    I have done over 100 of these trucks and almost always put them in the bottom of the door where there is plenty of room for depth. Although the kick panel is a much better idea if you can fab a spacer or new panel. These are $150 from Brothers.
