    3/8" in and out fuel line. I'm hoping the new fuel filter with the return line will keep enough gas flowing through the pump to keep it cool.

    The pump is less than 2 weeks old, and only has maybe 100 miles on it. And it was hot enough to vapor lock. When I cooled it to about 110, it pumped gas again.

    I have heard mention of engine compartment heat doing a number on the fuse block connector that runs through the firewall. That's something I need to check out on my 83 with power loss issues. Best of luck figuring it out, and welcome to the forum !!

    The truck had a 3 line mechanical pump, so yes, there is a return line I can plug into. I need to make sure the other end is attached to the tank selector solenoid.     The body of the truck is in excellent condition, so I don't want to drill holes in the floor of the cab. I understand your point and it does make sense. Now, if I had a rust bucket truck, it would be a non issue to poke a couple rusted out spots to run the fuel lines.

    What's weird is, I have driven the truck for 4 years with no issues using an electric pump, those motorhome mufflers and ethanol gas. Until last summer when it started acting up on days above 50 to 60 degrees.
