No one has a practical use for dually split rims anymore, right?

Or, buy a bunch more, weld them together, and make a serious retaining wall for the driveway.

Gas drain back issue - possible bad pump, or ????

86 GMC 2500 w/ 350, mechanical fuel pump. Fuel filter before the regulator, and another (see through) between the regulator and carburetor. Sitting overnight the gas drains back from the edelbrock 1405, and both gas filters have no gas in them. Is it somehow draining back into the tank, or...

What's a woodpile ??? This pic only shows half the pile, the other half is hidden behind what you see here.

No one has a practical use for dually split rims anymore, right?

It'll handle pieces up to 28" long, but not real big diameter. I average 5 to 6 cords of Juniper every winter, but these old bones get chilled real easy, so it averages 85 degrees or so in the house no matter how cold it gets outside.

No one has a practical use for dually split rims anymore, right?

I remember in 1979 when I was driving semis coast to coast, I was at a truck stop garage that had a rather large hole in the roof of the metal building... they informed me it was caused by the lock ring from a wheel that flew off when it came unseated from the rim during the airing up process...

No one has a practical use for dually split rims anymore, right?

Thanks !! I had just moved onto my barren off grid property and needed a source of heat quickly as it was winter time. I used what I had on hand, only cost me some welding gas and rod, and some time.

No one has a practical use for dually split rims anymore, right?

Here's another good use for them, winter heat !!! These weren't split rims, but you understand the theory. This keeps my 1,000 square foot cabin VERY comfy in the winter.

I have the perfect use for them, weld them together and make a BBQ pit.

Do we have a show us your shop thread?

It's a balmy 98 degrees today here, 100 expected tomorrow, and 101 Sunday. Work 10 minutes on the truck, then head for the house to cool off for an hour as the generator sucks gas to run the evaporative cooler.

Do we have a show us your shop thread?

Here's a pic of my shop (as was requested a few pages back from another member). CrazyArk is ready to install the new engine in his truck finally.

    What’s #15 mean?

yep, because both outboard pads are the same. If you switched the pads to the other side, you would end up with the exact same thing.

    What’s #15 mean?

I have never seen left and right disc pads. The wear indicator is always on the same end of both outboard pads in every set I have seen.

    What’s #15 mean?

Has to have been printed in the Haynes series of shop manuals, they talk funny and use words that very few people understand or know the meaning of .........

Can't make it up my driveway

The Q-jet carb usually has one behind the fitting the gas enters through. There are two lengths used, short and long, and either paper or bronze. A lot of people (like myself) add an inline filter by the tank switch solenoid, and sometimes one between the fuel pump and carburetor in the engine...

    Shifter Bushing

I remember taking the shifter out of my old SM420 and dropping it into a 465, perfect fit and the shifter was easier to use and had less throw distance between gears. I always wished GM would have kept the 420 shifter when the 465 was introduced ..........

    Shifter Bushing

All the ones I have seen are metal to metal where the shifter moves the innards of the transmission. And if memory serves me correct, there should be steel pins that go into those two grooves.

Double wall exhaust system, anybody do it ?

Well, I never once mentioned to my truck what the original application was, and it never complained , so all's good. I appreciate you telling myself and the other members of the forum about them. And I have the part numbers committed to memory for future reference.

Can't make it up my driveway

If you haven't changed the fuel filter in 10 years, I would suspect that highly, especially knowing how the quality of gas has gone downhill over the years. I don't recommend changing parts and hope it cures an issue, but my opinion is the engine deserves a new gas filter, and they aren't...

Can't make it up my driveway

I may sound presumptious, but I hope you kids applied a coating of white heat sink compound to the new ignition module when it was installed. Heat can injure or kill a module REAL QUICKLY without the compound.

Can't make it up my driveway

I would suggest you verify the timing chain isn't stretched. If you have 100K miles on an engine and the timing chain/gear set has never been touched, you can set the ignition timing spot on, but the valves will be running late, and resetting the timing for the distributor won't correct that...

Double wall exhaust system, anybody do it ?

Since the electric pump did not have any kind of return line, I got a Wix 33040 fuel filter (should have gotten the 33041 for the correct fitting sizes but I tightened the shit out of the hose clamps and it doesn't leak) as suggested in a reply in this thread and now the gas has a way to keep...

Double wall exhaust system, anybody do it ?

It was a real treat today not to have to crawl under the truck in my nice go-to-the-big-city clothes and spray bottle the fuel pump to cool it off. Several times after I had parked and shut the engine off, the pump made its clickety noises upon start up, but quieted back down as soon as the...
