What the He!! was I thinking?

I'd put it on a motorhome chassis and make a car hauler.

Do you ever play poker in Deadwood? Just leave it on the trailer and the next time I'm up we can have a side bet at a tournament and I'll haul it home, lol.

What have you done to your square lately??

I had a great day. Cutting and splicing the two cabs together for the body swap... and never really knowing if the vision was going to work as it seemed in my head. A week of work with no sure outcome... and the possibility of ruining the cab parts I need to have. But today it all came...

What have you done to your square lately??

Swapping bodies on the Chevy chassis has some challenges. I've already solved the saddle tank delete with a Blazer tank. Soon I'll have to figure out the radiator. In the meantime my gauges came in and this is the new set in the dash housing for the M37. The speedo is a GPS unit so if I...

Value of a 400/402 big block?

402 was only made one year if I remember right, 1970. Kind of a rare engine I guess. This from an internet article: Beginning in 1970, Chevy decided to bore the 396 out to make a total displacement of 402 cid. No vehicles had the original 396 after 1969, with the exception of the Chevy C/K...

    fuel tank swap

Partsgeek had the same tank for less than rockauto, and lower shipping costs. ($12) And when it came it had rockauto tape sealing the box.

    fuel tank swap

Tanks are cheap. Too inexpensive to bother repairing something to be replaced later.

What the He!! was I thinking?

Who cares if it's a different drive train. There's more Chevy SBs in Ford, Dodge, and whatever hot rods than any other engine. Do whatever works and gets it on the road.

What the He!! was I thinking?

That would make a nice car hauler with a COE vintage cab on it.

What have you done to your square lately??

Got the M37 cab into the shop after chopping out the floor. My brother came up from Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago and brought a nice electric hoist and wanted to give it to me as he has two. So I gave him a check for less than it was worth as a compromise. Getting the two pieces together, the...

    Venture a guess…

Well by now you should have figured out the knob that is circled in yellow... so what is it? Or are you going to be one of those guys that abandons the thread and never reveals what is found?

    Venture a guess…

Well the knob circled in yellow isn't a toggle switch... Haven't any of you guys seen a manual choke? I'm betting that if you feel underneath there won't be any wires, but instead there will be a cable. Does the handle pull out rather than turn?

    TH400 Information Thread

I hope this isn't hijacking the thread. I was wondering if anyone has used a four speed Hydramatic trans and tossed the turbo 350/400 from their truck? The Hydramatic was used in heavy/light trucks as well as passenger cars for many years and I think it was a precursor to the 350/400 trannys...

What have you done to your square lately??

I had a productive day. Chopped up the M37 cab and now I have two partial cabs that I need to put back together as one. Once I get the cab properly mounted the rest should be easier. (Famous last words)

Got the gas tank in for the saddle tank delete. A little wiring in the rear and I can start placing the body on the frame.

New member from Montana, '81 C10 longbed, 250 6 cylinder

Welcome... With the prices of new vehicles, especially trucks, I'd consider rebuilding and running something like this the same as an investment. Cheap, reliable transportation that will get you from here to there in the same amount of time as anything newer. And the money you saved will buy an...

Should this new guy buy this '85?

Yeah, I'd buy it just because of the 500 Caddy. The exhaust manifolds can be inverted and you could run stacks through the hood. And I'd put a spread bore Rochester on it with the linkage dialed in so you really have to stomp on it to engage the big secondaries. Never know when you'll need well...

Broken hearted kid and fuel system

A lot of people here are trying to help you... but you haven't answered a few pertinent questions. The first one being... when you say the truck runs, are you using a gravity feed direct to the carburetor, bypassing the fuel pump? OR... are you running gas from a remote source (a gas can?) and...
