    severely rusted stuck ujoint help

Auto or manual locking hub ?

You are correct, there should be zero binding except maybe in a tight turn, but there will be some added friction depending on turns and wear and tear thru out the axle housing. If the hubs are engaged!

Auto or manual locking hub ?

Always had manual, Warn no problems at all. Weather sucks lock them in, nice weather unlock them. Usually you will forget to unlock them all that does is affect your gas mileage, because of the added drag on the front, but I'll bet its minimal. And I had no problems taking off the original 1973...

    78 k10 starter problem

Also is the Battery cable going to the starter original, If so I would replace it. A lot of amperage going thru that cable and if it is corroded at all the load is not correct.

    78 k10 starter problem

I went thru numerous starters on that truck, I had a 396 in it. I know you want to get it right so you can sell it. I'd ask about a replacement small high torque starter I know someone on here has done that. I'm sure your getting tired of hold that heavy pos to get it removed and reinstalled.

    78 k10 starter problem

you are spot on, make sure you have the right bolts installed. I went thru the same problem for years because one of the bolts got stripped and the previous owner just grabbed what ever he had to fix it.

What have you done to your square lately??

So I'm getting closer here's an update. And what I did today. Last coat of primer before some Chassis black on these pieces. Then I can flip the cab back down and finish a few bare spots.

What have you done to your square lately??

I got both items from Off Road design! Make sure all the cracks are stop drilled before welding it up. And the Brake proportion valve sits behind that brace in the second picture So it will have to be installed and plumbed before you add that brace.

    Cab Underside Treatment

I reached out to Tamco and they told me to let the chassis black flash 30-40 minutes and use the slow hardener with the Hi Impact clear. I was just thinking it would be more durable than just the chassis black. Not worried about rust anymore just longevity.
