What have you done to your square lately??

way to see the silver lining. On the other hand, if you were actually out in the middle of stalking elk, it would be a better spot to have to spend some time. I hope you get it fixed quickly.

What have you done to your square lately??

I have firm pedal as well. Front is flowing as expected. I got rear flow to the rear hose block on the rear diff last week, changed nothing upstream of that junction, but now have no flow there either. Maybe I will take the compressor and blow out the line from the valve to the junction on the...

What have you done to your square lately??

Thanks Ajax. I had tried that a couple times. Plenty of fluid coming out the driver's front bleeder when I mashed the pedal with just that bleeder open. Engine running. Didn't hear a click though. Might be old junk stuck somewhere, maybe in the valve? These brakes were seriously neglected. Only...

What have you done to your square lately??

Based on what I've read, the valve shuts off the lines that are low on pressure. Is that not correct? Here is a thread that discusses the brass brake valve and the problems/solutions I am attempting: https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/proportioning-valve-combo-valve-woes.9188 Thanks for the...

What have you done to your square lately??

Brakes wouldn’t bleed out back. No fluid to the rear hose either. I checked the proportioning valve on the frame rail up front with a test light. Sure enough, grounded, which means it isn’t letting fluid to the rear lines. Tried removing the switch, but broke it. What now? New brass valve? Which...

    Wrong brake calipers?

Yes, each us marked R or L and I made sure they were installed on the correct side. Looks like that nub is not supposed to be there.

    Wrong brake calipers?

Got these reman calipers from Autozone and already left my old ones there for cores, so I don’t have them to compare to. Seems like these bumps (where the paint is worn from me pushing hard on them) protrude out so far that they push against the brake dust shield and prevent the holes from...

    Ball Joints Need Adjustment?

Well, that was easy. wrenched on the adjuster sleeve for the upper ball joint half a turn (pushing it downward), and then torqued the lower to half of the specified torque setting (35ftlbs), then torqued the upper to the specified torque setting (100ftlbs), then torqued the lower ball joint the...

    Ball Joints Need Adjustment?

Thanks @scrap--metal I figure that I need to remove the ball joint nuts, readjust the sleeve and start over installing them again. Before I do, I thought I would see what experiences others have had. Thanks for your input.

    Ball Joints Need Adjustment?

Just loosen the ball joint nuts and see if it frees up? Seems like it would need the sleeve adjusted.

    Ball Joints Need Adjustment?

After installing ball joints on the 1/2 ton 4WD for the first time, they appear to be too tight after torquing them to the specifications of 70ft-lbs lower, 100ft-lbs upper. The adjustment sleeve was inserted to the recommended location “exposing 2 threads”, but was still easy to turn without...

    Exterior LED accessory light ideas

Are these the 3/4" lights that come in a 10 pack for around $10? What types of switches are you using? Those are a bunch of great applications you listed for the small circle lights. I may need to follow suit.

    4WD Tie Rod Choices

Thanks Eric. Will do. Looks like it was done a while back based on the tie rod end rubber. Then again, in the Arizona sun, nothing lasts long.

    4WD Tie Rod Choices

So I am currently in the middle of rebuilding the front end of the 1/2 ton V1500 (see my signature for link to that truck's thread). In the process, I see there are a variety of tie rod ends available. I have the solid piece on the L driver's side, like #4 in the LMC diagram below. While I...

Clean old windows- years of gunk!

Yep, Prescott, AZ water ruins faucets and toilets faster than anywhere else I've lived. Hard water just means more maintenance I guess. CLR can work ok. I've found "Bar Keeper's Friend" cleanser and steel wool gets glass clean faster however.
