Crewcab body swap on Regular Cab C&C 159.5" WB?

They're about 3'x4' or 4'x5' rectangle bales (can't remember exact dimensions). Should be able to fit about 4 before overloading the truck weight wise. Its just an occasional thing so its not a 'must have', just a, it'd be nice to fit at least an ATV for hunting or haul a few bales out to sell...

Crewcab body swap on Regular Cab C&C 159.5" WB?

Thank you for weighing in @Fat 454 ! So you're saying that possibly cutting out the truck frame to splice in part of a suburban frame would be the way to make it work ideally (or with a Crew)? Cutting and welding frames isn't something I'd be comfortable approaching yet and honestly would be...

Crewcab body swap on Regular Cab C&C 159.5" WB?

Definitely an interesting look! That short of a bed would be a no go for me since I have to haul the occasional bale or two of hay (750lb bales) but nice to know it works! I saw one on one of the Facebook groups that was a lifted version and it looked pretty slick! If I was doing some sort of...

Crewcab body swap on Regular Cab C&C 159.5" WB?

I'll be interested to see what happens when you finally get to that project. I think in the meantime I'll just leave it as a single cab and enjoy it that way! Thank you for your input on the idea!

Crewcab body swap on Regular Cab C&C 159.5" WB?

Thank you for the frame photos! Those let me see a ton more of the frame and where bucket is running into his issues. A fully straight frame would be fantastic! I do have a 1948 Dodge 2-ton truck that has that frame, however, the body is still on it and in good condition so it'll get the full...

Crewcab body swap on Regular Cab C&C 159.5" WB?

So, the part I'm talking about is visible on your truck. About midway of the driver's side door is where mine kicks up. That's probably what's giving you some grief eh? If so, I'll be interested in seeing how you address the floor. If its beyond my skillset, she'll remain a single cab with an...

Crewcab body swap on Regular Cab C&C 159.5" WB?

No worries! Still cool photos nonetheless. yeah, 6-8 inches is what I want to avoid! Definitely need a couple feet at least between cab and wheel for it to look ok and not hang too much weight behind the axle

Crewcab body swap on Regular Cab C&C 159.5" WB?

I kind of like that idea of going "mega cab" and using a suburban. I can find a good bodied suburban around here for less than $1000 for the whole thing. I'd just have to graft on the back of a truck cab but I assume that wouldn't be too crazy. Now you've got my wheels spinning a bit more. I'd...

Crewcab body swap on Regular Cab C&C 159.5" WB?

That's cool! Do you have any photos of what the rear section looked like when you got it done?

Crewcab body swap on Regular Cab C&C 159.5" WB?

I scrambled underneath last night to look and the frame is like @PrairieDrifter's photo. Straight across the back until the axle kickup. Up front however it does have the drop down right after the front axle, and then it pops back up before the rear cab mounts. Cab mounts are on the flat and I...

Crewcab body swap on Regular Cab C&C 159.5" WB?

So, I have an idea in my head and I've been searching this forum and any other squarebody related forum for the last month or so when I have free time, and I've seen tons of posts or questions about swapping Crewcabs to suburban frames, RCLB pickups, etc. What I haven't seen yet, is someone...

Thank you both! I agree, I've gotten a lot of comments on it in person too about it looking tough/beastly/badass. Hopefully folks still think so when I eventually put a flatbed on it. It'll be a great truck!

C30 crew cab frame vs cab and chassis frame

Cody, Did you ever go any further with this project idea? I'm curious if you found anything out because I have a 159.5" C&C and thought I could just always be on the lookout for a Body to swap over and then do a short bed or a shorter Flatbed on the rear. Any updates for us?

Headlights on= No Turns, Headlights off= Turns

Interesting, I think I need to switch the rear brake lights back to the incandescent lights. Since its a service body, the Incandescent types are super cheap and plentiful thankfully! I'll maybe give that a go and report back after!

Hello from Southern Utah. 1983 C10 Stepside

Welcome Cliff! I'm also in Southern Utah though it looks like you're in the St. George area. I'm a bit north of you in Cedar City, so if you need anything, shoot me a message!

Headlights on= No Turns, Headlights off= Turns

I'll check the fronts to see if there is any crossover. The rears are LED and have a 3 prong insert (not a socket per se) that I can check for crossover on. I'm starting to lean more towards my column having issues over the grounds/bulbs themselves but I'll tear into it over the holidays. Thank you!

Headlights on= No Turns, Headlights off= Turns

I am wondering that as well because my turn signal stalk is a little janky. Wipers will turn on with Hi-Beams and don't turn off unless finagled just right. I'll test out some additional grounding on the lights to the body (with some alligator clips) and see if that helps. If not I might be...

I've liked the information I've been able to dig up so far and the members here so far I've noticed are very knowledgeable and respectful (hard to find in an old truck forum).

I wouldn't know if its a new issue or not since the previous owner was the one that installed the LEDs, probably a couple of years ago. I might switch back to the old Incandescent style to see if that solves it since the local Farm supply has the same lights in incandescent for $10/light.

Hello All, I am starting to ask questions and look around daily so I thought I'd better do introductions. I have a 1987 V30 Cab and Chassis. It has the 6.2 Diesel, TH400 and an 11 foot service body on it. Previous owner tried to lift it to the moon (6"+) so I've had the front lowered to about...

Will do, I'll double check the grounds and maybe throw another ground from the service body to the frame and light to service body to rule that out or fix the issue. Thank you
