    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

Jerry has more ongoing/prospective projects than 85% of the people on here. You might be waiting quite a while for him. I think a 250 or 292 mated to an NP833 would a unique combo if you could put it together. I know you said an NV earlier. But a TBI 250 with a four speed manual overdrive would...

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

It looks like I’m in the minority for advocating a single barrel setup. Only reason I feel like that is worrying about creating an overcarb situation unless it’s commonly thought that a 1MV is undercarbing a stock 250. I don’t know enough about them to say. It’s still more than the stock carb...

84 K10 replacement radiator and electronic fan combo?

People here use Ford Windstar fan assemblies, IIRC. Someone had also done a really nice job with one that fit perfectly in the stock shroud. Maybe from a Taurus, but I can’t remember. It’s buried somewhere on here. Concerning the radiator, is it the Harrison brass-copper style, and does it just...

Adding a transmission temp gauge to 700r4

175 or close to it is the gold standard for operating temp. If you go above 200, I’d say that’s too hot. I don’t know how much Dexron viscosity changes from ambient to operating temps, but I know you don’t want a continuously cold transmission either so it has to fight that constantly. If your...

STP oil additive with Zinc - opinions, please ....

Side note, I had been using STP filters in my car because they were cheaper than Delco, and they used to be made here not that long ago. Well, they’ve switched to Chinese at some point, but I can’t say exactly when because I wasn’t paying close attention. I guess with Fram being trash, your only...

Tie rod ends shot. Ball joints too?

This was the first thing I thought of. A thump or a clunk might be more in line with a tie rod end, but I’ve seen them sloppy with no noise. Your steering’s not binding where you can see the stress unburden as that pop sound? If that’s the case with this tie rod end, I’ve heard of plenty...

    Pillar mount unity spotlight

Understandable. Definitely sounds like there are cons to consider from the couple of above comments.

    Help! Carburetor on 250 I-6

Agreed. I used to feel like the OP towards carbs, but I’ve softened on them considerably where I’d seek out a carbed vehicle over even a TBI. To the OP, I’m from and currently in sorta South Mississippi, too, but it looks I’m heading back to New Orleans soon. I think you’re on the right track...

Any experience with an E40D transmission? Pump seal behind converter

The only thing I can say is the truck here at the house has burned its E4OD thrice in 225K miles from excessive payloads. When you rebuild it, or even if you don’t, a neatly installed secondary cooler would be a smart move.

    1983 C10 Vacuum

350/350 w/ non-California emissions? If so, this one’s should be correct. If it has a 700R4, forget about the vacuum modulator for the transmission. If it’s a California truck, it’ll have a feedback carburetor and not look like this at all.

Looking for info ? Cooling system !

I think it’d be fine in a 2wd because they’re relatively light, but it seems a bit meager in a 4x4. A 292 would have been a more reasonable option, but I’m assuming the weight/use of a 4x4 was the main thinking at GM because the 250 option went away when the 2wd models did. I think the 305 is a...

Looking for info ? Cooling system !

Interesting. The only Blazer engine options after ‘82 are the 305, 350, and 6.2. The 250 was in there before, but I hope that was only for C-Blazers. I can’t imagine a K5 with that one.

Looking for info ? Cooling system !

I’d like to know this, too, but if I had to guess, I’d say it came with a TH400, and that big boy needed the extra cooling. Whatever that entails... Mine w/a 700R4 doesn’t have this nor would I ever expect it to.

My truck won’t shut off with the key.

Definitely electrical. If it was “dieseling,” you’d know. I’d check to make sure the rod that goes to the ignition switch is moving back and forth okay just to rule out that the rod is contacting both ends and the rack wasn’t broken. I’d then check for continuity/shorts on the pink distributor...

    2019 K2xx Silverado Z71

I also agree. The only thing about those is I don’t get excited about them like the older models. I just see it as a truck, which if I want something cheap and user friendly to haul sod in, it’s great. However, if I want something that I really enjoy owning/driving AND I can haul sod in it, now...

    Lens for clock cluster

It’s your lucky day. Sorry for the delay, been busier than ever lately. Looks like I was right. A partially broken ear and then there might be one completely missing; can’t remember right now. You can have it under two conditions. One, promise to stop drilling glory holes in your cluster lens...

New steering box and now this....

This doesn’t sound like a preload problem to me unless it was set way too tight. My logic is that even if it was that, it should have those violent tendencies in both directions. I think it’s an internal problem, and even if it wasn’t, I wouldn’t feel comfortable depending on it. I’d say send it...

    85 c15 fuel delivery issue

I would try sourcing fuel from a gas can directly to the pump to rule that portion of the system out. It could be debris lodged in the switching valve.

New steering box and now this....

Shops, barring a slim minority of exceptions, are 24 karat dipshits. This is par for the course, proof in the pudding. I’ve seen similar behavior in worn out/severely abused Saginaw boxes and also in poorly rebuilt steering sectors in large tractors that needed power assisted steering to be...

    Tbi 350 swap problems?

Well, you have to unplug the advance bypass wire on the firewall when you check the timing otherwise it’ll be all over the place like that. To someone who knows TBI, it’s not a big deal, maybe a half a day job, and if you can find a 1987-91 TBI vehicle with a 350 being parted out, probably not...

    Tbi 350 swap problems?

If that choppiness translates to a vacuum level that’s low and unstable, absolutely. The MAP sensor needs good, reliable vacuum to work properly, not to mention the gaggle of other vacuum accessories. Did you hear it run beforehand? That would be a good reference point from an auditory...

Haha, that guy should drive it to an insane asylum and have his head examined. No way.

    Need TBI 350 build advice

I would say check out SPR Performance TBI assemblies. They hog out the bore of the base to 46 mm IIRC, do an adjustable regulator, and put heavier injectors. You can get a fresh unit, but it’s cheaper to have your current unit worked. I would say a 454 unit might be worth exploring, but it might...
