    73-80 LMC Dash Pad

The only issue that I would say was a little off is the top left corner of the dash bezel. I am not sure if the dash pad does not stick out quite far enough or if my bezel just isn't fit tight all the way in. But the top left corner of my dash bezel basically sits flush with the dash and it is...

81 up dash pad anyone bought one recently

I bought one from truck and car shop as well. Was cheaper than LMC and I would guess the quality is just as good. Like others have said, takes a little trimming but not much. For the price I was pleased with mine.

    73-80 LMC Dash Pad

I just installed one from truck and car shop out of CA. It was cheaper than LMC and looks great, and they had quick shipping. Worth calling them about as the prices on their website are not up to date.

    Let’s talk about headliners

I ordered my dash from the truck shop, just make sure you call them. Their online catalog prices are not real accurate, I don't think they update it too often. If you search on line for the 81-87 dash pads, they still show 239.00. They are 350.00 when you go to order one.

    Let’s talk about headliners

I too just got around to installing an LMC headliner I bought last year. The first one I bought, the factory holes in the plastic for the visors was way to small. I didn't want to try to cut them out so I called them and they sent me a new one after seeing the pictures. The opening for the...

Where did you order your carpet from?

Just an update I ended up getting my carpet finished, new floor mats (also from ACC), and a new dash. Pretty much done with the interior. I ended up ordering my Dash from Truck and Car parts in CA. I am not sure if most of the aftermarket dashes are made by one company, similar to the carpet...

    How To Refurbish Your Dashpad

I had time today and got my dash installed. Overall I am very pleased with it. Had to do some trimming as with anything aftermarket. Took about an hour of twisting and tweeking to get thing lines up. I ordered the dash from Truck and Car shop in CA. Shipping was quick, only issue I have was...

    Problem solved

When you say you have always opened the cap while the engine is at temp, is that only on this truck or on all your vehicles? If it has always been on this truck, then there could have always been a problem since you've owned it. If you've done this on other vehicles than you have gotten lucky....

    How To Refurbish Your Dashpad

Spent several hours this afternoon sanding and working on the dash and could tell I was not happy with the results so I just ordered a new one. Even as I was sending it it was getting more cracks in it. Not sure if there was too much flex in the foam or what was going on, but I didn't like how...

    How To Refurbish Your Dashpad

Last two. Here it is after the initial trim job of the foam. I didn't not a pic after I sanded it down but the second pic is after I put the epoxy on one side and the putty on the other. There was one low spot that the epoxy wouldn't fill in so I dabbed some filler in there. Going to let it...

    How To Refurbish Your Dashpad

So I started my dash yesterday. Ill post some pics in the morning. Day one I cut out all the old cracks to deepen them a little. I also epoxied some thin plastic unto the spots were the speakers were as mine are not used. After that was done I filled everything with spray foam. This...

Valuable car insurance information for squarebodys

I was thinking the other day about calling my insurance company and seeing what the cost would be to go to full coverage on my 86 K 20. I don't have a lot in it since most of it is DIY but the value is getting up there with these old trucks...

1990 Suburban 454 Oil Pressure jumping

I'm no mechanic but have been around square bodies long enough to know I would not assume your pressure was 28 before, or that it is close to 60 now. First thing I would do is to get a reliable alternate method to confirm your oil pressure, other that the stock gauge. Your factory gauge could...

    How To Refurbish Your Dashpad

I asked a while back and it kind of got burried, or maybe the people who did this refurb don't have a reason to come back. I am curious about those who patched and sprayed your dash pads some time ago would say they are holding up. I didn't know if the old brittle cover continues to curl up...

    Sanding 81 truck frame?

Not sure what type of finish you are looking for (show truck v daily driver) but about 17 years ago I just degreased and pressure washed my frame to remove anything that would flake off. Once it dried I painted it with POR 15 and it has held up since.

    RockAuto floor mats PICS

Those look nice, I just ordered a set for my truck. Are the ones you ordered the cutpile or essex? I assume the cutpile based on price but not sure how much prices have changed. I too ordered mine from Rock Auto, they were right at 120.00 with the logo and shipping.

    BFGoodrich or Cooper?

Ill step out of this conversation. I wasn't trying to start a war. I was just bringing up the fact that I bought 60,000 mile tires and before 20,000 miles there was an issue. They agreed with me there was an issue and told me they would warranty the tires, which I was initially pleased with...

    BFGoodrich or Cooper?

I would have to dig up and see the exact model on the tires qA. I do know the two that were worn were NOT on the same axle. The journey was a 2012 and for us it was not a money pit at all. We had one issue with the tranny that was fixed under warranty but that is it. As a matter of fact my...

    BFGoodrich or Cooper?

I know this is an old thread but thought I would chime in in case anyone finds it. I used to run Coopers until I had a bad experience with their customer service/warranty. After that I won't buy another set. My wife had a Dodge Journey and we put a set of Coopers on it at Tire Barn. They did...

    Rust converters and Frame paint

over 15 years ago a friend of mine was doing a frame off on a 66 Chevelle. The guy doing the paint used POR 15 on the frame and the next day took a hand held angle grinder with a wire wheel to it and all it did was shine it a little. After seeing how tough the stuff was I ended up using it on...

    New Carpet, install Dynamat first?

Looks good. I bought the 36 square foot pack and it was more than enough for my standard cab. I didn't cover 100 percent of the cab but got 95% of the floor and still have over 1/2 the box left.
