1987 Chevrolet V20 front leaf spring replacement
I did the Tuff Country 2" Add-A-Leaf on my stock front springs, worked great! It did add a little chop to the ride though, but it's tolerable.- mtbadbob

Yeah, I traded a fully restored/rebuilt 258 carb for a complete pristine Olds 8 track and new factory speakers for my W car! Luckily, I only had $500 into the carb, but they're approaching $2,500 now!- mtbadbob

Well, Walmart knows what sells. Besides, if you knew audio, you know Pioneer has a cheaper consumer line that they present in those box stores. Does Alpine even still exist? He was probably checking to see if the hubs were disengaging the axles, seeing if the spindle was spinning without the axles spinning. Just a way to check to see if the hubs are working properly.- mtbadbob

Rebuilt Quadrajet
I'm with you, always have defended the Quadrajets as the best option for any GM. I've always had good luck with getting them tuned right for my vehicles. I have a $2,500+ one on my '70 W-30, factory carb's for them are bringing stupid money!- mtbadbob

Yeah, I agree with you, I was referring to his "buy a Holley" comment! I know the brass floats tend to be a bit heavier, but they will not saturate like the fiber one's tend to. Smog Pump Required?
Can you see evidence of a pump, or any tubes or plugged holes on the exhaust manifolds? Also, not sure that truck would of came with a 350, so perhaps it isn't the original engine? It should of came with the air pump & the plumbing to the exhaust man's, along with an EGR of course...- mtbadbob

Does it start right back up after it dies? It almost sounds like it runs out of fuel, like the needle is hanging up on the inlet valve. The needle is what hangs off the back of the float on the little clip, seats against the inlet valve to control the fuel inlet into the bowl.(in case you...- mtbadbob

Best oil? Type, brand, viscosity, additives, etc.
Parrafin based oils were the main culprits of sludge, Pennz, Havoline, Quakerstate, etc... I've worked in the oilfield and have seen the difference in raw crude that comes straight out of the ground, as the parrafin wells had waxey-based crude and were generally a greenish color. AuroraGirl is correct, start-ups are the hardest on engines, hence SYNTHETICS!!! All oil is good if it's clean & not broken down. Just stay away from parrafin based oils PERIOD!! The correct fuel supply/mixture is important also, not good to have your oil smell like fuel!- mtbadbob
