    New member. 87 V20 Stepside

Welcome from a fellow '87 V20 owner! Wow, that's a rare bird for sure, wondering if it even came from the factory that way, or someone made it??

    My chevelle

'74??? My buddy had one and what a tough, great car! I love the classic look of the rally's & side pipes. These plastic cars these days just don't have the same class as that old iron. One of the best cars I've ever owned was a '76 Monte with a sb 400.

Best source for a new dash pad for my ‘87? LMC? Brothers? Other?

I just got confirmation on shipping my seat cover that I ordered in June from them.

How do new cars connect to internet ?

It is satellite as those shark fins are the antenna's for the signal, and a regular mast is still used on the trucks for am/fm. Onstar can unlock the new vehicles by sending a signal from above.

    GMC vs. CHEVROLET

GMC-Gay Man's Chevy :laughing1:Personally, I'm a Chevy guy. I've always liked the look of the grilles better, especially the new vehicles. The GMC's grilles look like large mouths, kinda like Toyota's do. Also, try $70k+ for a new truck, my new High Country gasser was $72k! :(

    Mystery vacuum line

I just plugged mine at the TBI. It may have something to do with the lean code. My check engine light pops on periodically but goes off by itself & seems kind of random. Have you checked or replaced your O2 sensor?

    Mystery vacuum line

Yep, that 4th line goes to air pump. I also have an '87 V20 that has the air pump removed & the line plugged at TBI

    Door Glass Aligment

I'd say either the track is bent allowing that to happen, or he must not be getting the glass inside the track properly. Also check your regulator arms, and make sure all the bolts are in for the regulator & the track.

    Which Tranny do I have

    Holy Grail of Squarebodys

Oh yeah, now that you mention it, I do recall seeing the 396 badge on a few fenders! Kinda rare birds though...Very cool!

    Holy Grail of Squarebodys

Don't think I've ever seen an actual 396 in a chevy truck, but I know the 400 (402=bored 396) was common.

1976 Square drivers side A/C Duct

My '87 just has a small, snorkel shaped outlet, about 1"w x 1/2" h, that blows straight down under the column

1976 Square drivers side A/C Duct

If you can wait a few days, I'll try to grab it later in the week, should have it by weeks end. I'm guessing it won't be very expensive, but could be $40-$50 shipped. Lmk what you think...Bob

1976 Square drivers side A/C Duct

I believe they are the same through the '92 Squares. I can get my hands on one in the back of a 'Burb at a yard I frequent near me, if it's the duct work in the picture. It goes from main heater box behind ash tray, runs under steering column, attaches to lower column plate in the center, then...

    Tachometer replacement thoughts

Ah, I see. Yeah, I found a factory tach out of a C30 for my '64 C10 and had it calibrated for a V-8 for the 409 going in it. It's super-nice as I restored the needle and all. I haven't seen any C10's or 20's with a factory tach before, I like that rare stuff!

    Tachometer replacement thoughts

I did not see that tach w/inset fuel gauge on LMC's site, just their kit's with separate fuel gauge.

    Power window harness

I replaced my drivers door harness with the door on and it wasn't too bad. A rachet wrench is the way to go to get harness boot off. I just split the grommet at the kick panel so I wouldn't have to remove wires from the connectors under the dash.

    Window Felt Replacement

I measured & double checked mine again, there is definitely some type of cladding on there. They measure about 1/32nd different, and I can actually see it on the drivers side that it's slightly loose and I can see the metal behind it where it wraps around toward the window. I'm almost thinking...
