I was unaware that it was welded, it looks like it just unbolts, exposing a hole for SOMETHING?? -
Front Fender Well Inspection Covers?
Reinforcement for what?? It seems like it was intended for some kind of inspection or access. Reinforcement cover doesn't make sense, especially the shape of them. -
New build advice
All of those components will look the same. The only difference of course is 81-87 front fenders. If it's not in stock form, it won't matter what you do, you'll just have to find someone that likes what you built & will pay what you're asking for it if you decide to sell. -
Cargo and Dome not working
Door switches are a common issue if the bulbs are good. Mine dome & cargo never worked when I got my truck neither, had to replace cab harness & mess with drivers door switch to get everything working.- mtbadbob

starter rebuilding - advice needed
My '87 was cranking really slow when I first got it, thought it had a weak battery, but did it after a full charge. I pulled the starter apart & one of the brushes was completely wore away. I've always had good luck with just a good cleaning of the armature, replace the brushes & just taking...- mtbadbob

New TBI injectors causing surging
My '87 does the same thing, even after I rebuilt the TB & injectors. It'll dip way down & almost stall while idling, then pop back up to normal rpm and smells rich. It'll sometimes shudder a bit while revving, like a choke is closed too far. I have not replaced O2 or CTS yet, those were my next...- mtbadbob

Cab light question
Different wattages for different pn's, although all are 12v. My 1982 Harley Davidson has a tiny bulb for the fuel gauge but it's only like a 2 watt bulb, so I always try to replace it with a bit brighter bulb. Those tiny elements don't like the vibration of an HD for some reason, especially...- mtbadbob

Mirror and Vent Windows
As far as mirrors go, I'd get a set of the stock stainless mirrors. If they're going on fresh paint, you can polish them to showroom condition and replace the mirror glass. Nothing beats OEM!- mtbadbob

Drove mine to the dump Friday after sitting for a couple weeks, and the damn heater fan wouldn't come on at any speed. I've never had a problem in the past, and always liked how good the heater & controls worked in it. After reading another thread about testing the resistor & relay, I broke out... -

Welcome from Montana! The V designation is for the last year of that body style in that series, 10 or 20. Coolant temp sensor plays a big part in good cold start-ups, so that may be a place to look also.- mtbadbob

Dash Differences?
My brother had an '86 C-10 w/305, CA truck & it also had the light in the center of the bezel. Maybe they were only on CA models?? Like Blue Ox said, the diesels had a "glow plug" light there, not the "check engine" Diesels also had 80 psi oil pressure gauges.- mtbadbob

Just make sure they didn't hack everything up doing the swap, i.e., wiring, cross members. It looks like a pretty solid, straight truck, offer him $3,800- mtbadbob
