    Cranks, no fuel, no spark

All the new parts are made in China these days. I've had good luck with Well's ignition electrical parts. I replace my module on my 87 V-20 at every tune up. I got mine at Car Quest and it has a lifetime warranty. Clayton Sent from my LG-K450 using Tapatalk

    Leaky small block

Invest in a flourescent dye leak test kit. You put dye in your oil after you clean your engine off of all the leaked oil. Drive your truck around for awhile and then check for leaks with the kit included black light, the leaks location will be exposed and glow. Auto part stores sell the kits...

    Spark plug gap

I always go by what the emission sticker says to gap them to. Just helped a neighbor with replacing the coil, and ignition module on his 84 GMC K-2500 yesterday afternoon. Red wire on the coil was burnt just about through from arcing. Fixed that with a new ground strap on the new coil. I like my...

    Bad Fuel Tank Selector Valve?

Finally after two years of moving around and not having my tools available I got the switching valve swapped out yesterday. The old one was bad. When I unplugged the harness from it fuel ran out of it, I'm lucky I never had a fire and thank god the plug in never leaked. I put fresh fuel in the...

Talk me into or out of TBI

Where's a good place to get replacement injectors from for my 87 V20, motor is a rebuilt 5.7. A rebuild kit would be nice to have also. I remember there was a website that we could order from a couple years ago that had good parts at a fair price. Clayton

    Which tranny should i run?

I would go with a TH-400 3-speed auto if you can find one. I've got one bolted up to my NP-208 and it works great. I've also got 4.10's in the Diff's. Keep an eye out for ready to bolt in axle assembly's from your favorite wrecking yard. Swapping them your stuff will cut down on your cost...

    Coolant system issue

It's not hard drop one out. I used a floor jack with a piece of metal plate bolted to the saddle. You could also use a cut piece of plywood. Undo the straps and lower it down so that you can remove the lines from the sending unit, If they are original now is a good time to replace these lines...

I deal Square setup for ND Snow season.

Lance, if you drive smart and have weight in the bed and traction tires your 2wd should be fine. There comes a time due to the road conditions when it doesn't matter what you have and you'll get into trouble. I would also have a set of chains for the rears on your 2wd. If you have a snow plow...

    Bad Fuel Tank Selector Valve?

The switching valve arrived this afternoon when I was out running down a job lead and of course it was signature delivery confirmation. So I get to go to the post office tomorrow morning. Fedex just dropped off my right outer tie rod from Rock Auto this morning. Wish the mailman coulda done...

    New truck....maybe

Even with the rust it's worth $1500. You'ed make money if you parted it out. Floor boards and P/S window are easy enough to fix. How's the rest of the truck minus the head repair. Clayton

No fluid coming thru bleeder valve

Gravity bleed em after you replace the lines, and then only press the brake pedal once when you bleed them the normal way. After gravity bleeding you should have a pretty good pedal. Only pressing the brake pedal once cuts down on the chance of turning one air bubble into ten air bubbles, so...

For anyone thinking of swapping to TBI.....

Here in Oregon in the the lower Willamette Valley I don't have to run the pump or other emission stuff, but up in Portland you gotta have all that stuff because they test up there. When I rebuilt mine I left everything under the hood stock. On the exhaust I ran 2 1/2 inch pipe off the manifolds...

    done the add a leaf!

Not unless you've got a good buddy who works at an off road shop who would just swap em out. I've known the owners of our local shop for over twenty years and even though I bought the shocks from them they still need the sales reciepts so they can warranty them. You would think that Rancho would...

    4" lift for a 1 ton

I've had blocks on the rear of my 87 3/4 ton with 4 inch springs up front for over twenty years and I've never had a problem with axle wrap. Now if you were to go taller I think you might have a problem with the blocks. Clayton

    done the add a leaf!

Don't fret too much HR, for me to be able to swap out the schocks I have to show my original sales reciept for them, or the most recent one that I recieved when I swapped out the last shocks that were leaking. I've got them stapled together. All the Rancho shocks including the stabilizers had a...

Tranny issue on the way home 2night....

Bad thing about Craigslist is that you don't always know what you're getting, especially with car stuff. Look em over good before you part with your hard earned money. Clayton
