    Hood springs are gone, and the hood is screwed, at least it didn't get the windshield.

    NOOOOO!!!!! NOT AGAIN!!!!! Poor hood, this same thing happended about two and a half years ago, but I was on the interstate, and the hood was even more mangled. I was working on it last night, and I must have not latched the hood all the way.

    Just pinstriped the Burb. She's a going-to-town unit now! Even with the bondo falling out. I also got me some hub caps (I still need the adapter rings for them).

    Anybody ever installed a newer transmission on an older engine.

    The bellhousing pattern for most GM engines has been the same since 1955, so swapping in a newer transmission should be no problem. If I were you, I'd pick up either an NV3500 5 speed (easier to find, and actually came in trucks) or a T56 6 speed (Expensive, and never actually put into trucks...

    Yea, this maaco used to be really sketchy up until about 10 years ago when it got bought out, now we do pretty good work. This truck hasn't seen the light of day since then.

    Actually the underside is really clean, the floors are perfect, and it runs like a top. That's why I'm actually considering getting all new sheet metal for it (I can get it as wholesale since I'm an employee).

    When I said that this thing is about 60% bondo, I wasn't joking. It's got even more bondo than the '74 had when I bought it. And rust in a lot of weird places. I'm still not quite sure if I want to embark on a project like this since it pretty much needs a new body.

    It was like -5F out when I dropped the oil pan to fix this, so I didn't feel like doing more than replace 2 rod bearings that were physically loose. Sent from my SM-G889A using Tapatalk

    I installed it properly, it just started leaking again This should explain why the seal went out. The rear main bearing looked just as bad, so I should have gotten one of those offset high mileage seals to compensate for the wear. Sent from my SM-G889A using Tapatalk

    Yea before the leak it would only burn like 1 quart a week.

    Well, most of the oil loss if from the oil leak the oil pan as well as the rear main (I wish they made 1 piece oil pan gaskets for I6's. Replaced both the rear main and oil pan gasket like 4 months ago, and it lasted like a week before it took out the rear main).
