What have you done to your square lately??

Most of that two weeks, though, was just sanding through the 47 layers of paint covering it.

What have you done to your square lately??

She's painted. After 2 weeks of prep, it actually looks pretty decent compared to the mangled mess I started out with.

    Broken bolt = square paperweight

I remember trying to replace my thermostat once (preventative maintenance) and I broke off one of the bolts. Then I decided "Nah, thermostats fine, I don't need to replace it." 2 years later it never leaked, and I replaced the whole engine.

What have you done to your square lately??

Getting O'l Yeller ready for paint. I'm doing a 2 tone (maybe woodgrain to match the doors) so I just picked up some chrome trim from the junkyard. (It should hopefully throw off all the shitty body work)

    73 GMC Grille

If anyone looking at this thread lives near Cedar Rapids Iowa, here's a good deal on a grille. https://iowacity.craigslist.org/pts/d/mount-vernon-gmc-pickup-truck-grill-oem/7166500800.htm I was considering picking it up as a spare, but someone else needs it more.

    Questions about body work

You could get that stuff way cheaper from LMC or JC Whitney, but the thing that kills you is shipping. I got all my parts from LMC, but I didn't have to pay shipping since I actually was in Kansas City near the national headquarters. Also, you need 73-80 fenders for your truck, 81-87 onea just...

    I made it home anyway.

About two months ago I decided to take my '95 Chevy Suburban with 340,000 miles on it Storm Chasing. So the day right after my graduation, I left went on my way to the central Kansas area. After several days of disappoint, I was on my way home when all of a sudden, I left a massive smoke...

What have you done to your square lately??

Not my square, but I just got my '51 Studebaker running off of it's own fuel system and 35 year old gas!!! I could have drained the tank (there's a drain plug, but I was intriuged when the pump actually pulled this ancient fuel all the way up to the carb, so I tried to run with it. They really...

What have you done to your square lately??

I got a set of new doors off of a '73 for $75. I might embrace the wood grain, and paint the rest of the truck to match these doors. Also, I bet some of that chrome molding would throw off all the bad bodywork.

How Fast Can A Squarebody Go?

I've done over 90mph in my square with a 250 i6, no overdrive, and 4.10 gears (I don't recommend it).

Would 12 volts on a 6 volt system kill your ignition system if its not converted?

The starter would probably be fine, but you'll need a 12v coil to get it to run though. Also, the generator would not make enough voltage to charge the battery, but you could modify it adding a step-up transformer before the A/C rectifier in the generator. (I've been trying to get my 1951...

What have you done to your square lately??

Yea, it's a Goodyear Workhorse Radial, and it's about 25 years old, and sat in mud for 10 of those years.

What have you done to your square lately??

The truck sat for 10 years, so those tires were pretty dryrotted. I'm just glad I got the event on video.

    1990 ChevyLight Duty 3/4 Ton

It's a running/driving truck now!!! I got the new fuel system back together, as well as a new brake line. I replaced the the fuel pump, but not the sending unit, so I am now exactly $306 into this truck, and it is at least semi road worthy. It runs great, and the trans shifts silky smooth...

    1990 ChevyLight Duty 3/4 Ton

I got the gas tank out, and it was not really usable. $23 later, I got a really nice gas tank from a local junkyard. I plan to reuse the sending unit, but replace the pump.

    1990 ChevyLight Duty 3/4 Ton

I just scored big time with this truck. It hadn't run in about 10 years, but that did not stop me from driving it home. $250 for a solid 4wd 3/4 ton truck that sort of runs. The guy parked it with a full tank of gas, so the there wan no chance of the fuel system working, so we ran it off a...
